QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MORVEN RACE CLUB MORVEN – SATURDAY, 9 SEPTEMBER 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. TicknerStewards – W. GlassClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – B. LyonsVeterinarian – Dr H. GasteySwab Attendants – Dr H. GasteyStarter – S. Brassington GENERAL As Apprentice L. O’Donnell was indisposed due to illness, the following rider replacements were permitted when there were no other apprentices available:Race 1 – GAZZMAN (D. Boutet)Race 2 – LE KITA (B. Richardson)Race 4 – MR DEMOLITION (J. Rudd) Apprentice L. O’Donnell was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to race-riding again. When there were no other riders available, the following horses were declared late scratching’s on Stewards’ orders at 10:30am.Race 3 – RUNINSCARED, ST ROSE Race 1: WESTLINK PETROLEUM 'FRED BALLINGAL & DOUG UTTING MEMORIAL' BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1000m) Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Rider D. Boutet and Trainer W. Pugsley made application to Stewards for GAZZMAN to be declared a non-runner, on the grounds that the gelding had been disadvantaged at the start. Upon viewing the films, it was established that as the start was effected, barrier six was slow to open, subsequently resulting in the gelding losing considerable ground. After viewing the films, Stewards considered the application and acting under the provision of AR204(1) subsequently declared GAZZMAN a non- runner. Further to the declaration of correct weight, it was made aware to Stewards that the photo finish system had failed. After viewing appropriate films, Stewards were satisfied with the numbers semaphored by the Judges, and correct weight was subsequently declared. GAZZMAN – Declared a non-runner under AR204(1) after being disadvantaged at the start. Stewards ruled all successful wages prior be deducted the following amount:1st 23c Win, 23c Place2nd 23c Place FREDDIE EDDIE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. VINAIGRETTE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, momentarily inconvenienced and obliged to steady when KAZZA’S JET shifted in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KAZZA’S JET – Approaching the 600m, shifted in, momentarily inconveniencing VINAIGRETTE. Apprentice E. Pomfrett was advised to exercise greater care. NEWITT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving late on course and passed fit to start. Race 2: SHERIDAN DELFORCE TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP (1000m) LORD LOBSTER – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. VALONIA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider P. Randall was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted prior to the 100m. LE KITA – Began awkwardly and bumped BOLD ADMIRAL. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. RED ZORRO – Approaching the 100m, obliged to be shifted out and away from the heels of LORD LOBSTER to obtain clear running. BOLD ADMIRAL – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Race 3: MORGAN PASTORAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) IMPENDING RAIN – Raced keenly on heels in the middle stages. MARTY AWHA - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. NYTHE – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected (5L). Trainer C. Storch was advised that warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners. ROGUE ARTIST – Entering the home straight, bumped with HEAVEN BLESS and became momentarily unbalanced. SMIKO – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HEAVEN BLESS – Entering the home straight, bumped with ROGUE ARTIST. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RUNINSCARED – Late scratching on Stewards’ orders at 10:30am when no rider was available. ST ROSE – Late scratching on Stewards’ orders at 10:30am when no rider was available. Race 4: ROMA SANDS RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP (1400m) LASCO - Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FORGED IN STONE – Rider M. Schrapel was reprimanded under AR132(5) for using his whip on 15 occasions throughout the event, 1 more than permitted. DANTE ALIGHIERI – Approaching the 600m, shifted in abruptly to the running rail, inconveniencing ROOTS ‘N’ ROCKS which lost ground when obliged to restrain. Rider P. Randall was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. ROOTS ‘N’ ROCKS – Approaching the 600m, inconvenienced when DANTE ALIGHIERI shifted in abruptly to the fence and lost ground. AURIC GOLD – Began awkwardly. INHISTIME – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: CURLEY CATTLE TRANSPORTS MORVEN CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1400m) TYCOON ZIP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WAITAKERE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ENTERPRISE GRAND – Performed below expectations. When questioned, Rider E. Bell stated she was not particularly disappointed in the performance, stating that the gelding was up in class, and was further not suited by the fast tempo set. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GYPSY BIKER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HEAT – Rider D. Boutet was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted prior to the 100m. Race 6: SHEPPARD FAMILY MEMORIAL MORVEN RACE CLUB SUPPORTERS RACE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1800m) OUR SPIDER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. IMPACTFUL – Rider B. Richardson was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted prior to the 100m. PHYLAVE – Raced keenly in the early stages passing the winning post on the first occasion when being crossed. AZOUSTIC – Raced wide and without cover in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader approaching the 1400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
