Race 1: Stallan Security Benchmark 65 Handicap 900 metres:1st – ROSE OF CLARE 2nd – STIEG 3rd – RIKKI DYNAMO 4th – JORDAN STIEG – Dislodged rider Apprentice A Thomson en route to the barriers. Was quickly restrained and inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. THE HAWK ETERNAL – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. JORDAN – Bumped shortly after the start. Race 2: Lynette Vains QTIS Maiden Plate 1010 metres:1st – LITTLE RED ROCKET 2nd – LOVE RED 3rd – EIGHTH KEEPER 4th – SUNSHINY GIRL ONYA MISS – Was fractious in the float en route to the course. The mare was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Trainer Mr R Nelson advised Stewards the mare had cast one of its hind plates and when it was unable to be reshod raced without shoes on the hind feet. Raced wide throughout. GEORGIE PORGIE – Fractious in the barriers. WATCH ME DAZZLE ‘EM – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Approaching the 600 metres was forced wider on the track by another runner shifting out. I MISSED MICK – When questioned regarding the geldings finishing effort Jockey M Kai advised Stewards his mount travelled comfortably in the early stages however approaching the 600 metres began to weaken and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. LITTLE RED ROCKET – Over raced for a short distance when crossed by another runner at the 600 metres. LEIGHWAY – Held up rounding the home turn until the 100 metres. LOVE RED – Apprentice A Thomson was fined $100 under AR92(12) for failing to claim her full allowance. Race 3: L M Engineering Class B Handicap 1123 metres:1st – TERRASAURUS 2nd – WOLF CREEK 3rd – CRAIGLEA ALDI 4th – GANGSTER SQUAD WOLF CREEK – Bumped at the start. Raced wide early. GANGSTER SQUAD – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. AESOP – Bumped at the start then failed to muster early pace. SHORT TERM – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start bumping another runner. DECLAN STYLE – Began awkwardly. Upon to return to the enclosure was found to have sustained an injury to its near side shoulder. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near side shoulder. Race 4: Brenton Langley Plumbing Benchmark 60 Handicap 1210 metres: 1st – COMPULSIVE ROCKET 2nd – JUMBO RUMBO 3rd – OUR KAPOW 4th – ROAD FOX GIVE ME TIME – Began awkwardly. OUR KAPOW – Apprentice A Thomson dropped her whip near the 200 metres. Steadied from heels near the 800 metres. SCHNELLE’S PFERD – Raced in restricted room for some distance near the 800 metres. ROAD FOX – Raced keen early and improved into a narrow run near the 800 metres. Apprentice N Nelson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Race 5: Mareeba Taxation / S Cordenos RE Handicap 900 metres:1st – PHANTOM SOX 2nd – LEGENDARY PLUME 3rd – WILD DIVA 4th – GLOW LION GO EDITORIALE – Slow away. GLOW LION GO – Slow away. Raced wide. TOXICITY – Raced wide. LEGENDARY PLUME – Overraced for a short distance after being crossed near the 1200 metres.
