Holzhauser Stewards – P. Gillard, S. Copelin, P. Lane GENERAL As jockey’s G. Kliese and A. Layt were not riding at todays meeting they were replaced as per steward’s summary. Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres MURIEL'S WEDDING – The lead was left attached to the near side of the mare’s bridle on jumping resulting in apprentice J. Edwards being placed at a disadvantage and lose ground before being able to gather it in a short distance later. On inquiring into the incident MURIEL’S WEDDING was declared a nonrunner. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on MURIEL’S WEDDING was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable.PUTERE – Slow to begin. Shifted wider approaching the 100 metres when racing greenly.Race 2: QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 900 Metres MIDAS STAR – As no other suitable senior rider was available stewards permitted apprentice L. Overall to replace jockey G. Kliese. HOKOLESQUA – Tightened for room shortly after the start and steadied. Restrained approaching the 300 metres when racing ungenerously and shifted wider. THUMANI – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Race 3: OPEN HANDICAP – 900 Metres RUBY JULY – Turned its head to the offside as start was effected and lost ground. MORE THE MERRIER – Slow into stride and was ridden hard early to obtain a forward position. Race 4: BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1123 Metres FORGIATO (NZ) – Slow to begin. COUNT OF CARFORD – Commenced to climb for a short distance leaving the 500 metres. Brushed approaching the winning post. SIDE HUSTLE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages brushing with COUNT OF CARFORD. Race 5: RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 HANDICAP – 1123 Metres ELLIE'S DREAM – Slow to begin. ACCTORIES – Slow to begin. MOEGREEN (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider L. Guernier dropped her whip near the 200 metres. PRIVATE SECTOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.OCTOBER STORM – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MAKANUI – Attempted to savage another runner shortly after the winning post. Trainer N. Homann was advised a warning would be placed on its racing manners. Race 6: QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres HEADLANDER – Slow to begin.Raced wide leaving the 600 metres.MISHANI MENACE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 7: OPEN HANDICAP – 1500 Metres NEBARAZ – Slow to begin. LOVE ON SUNDAY – Tended to over-race in the early stages.Compounded leaving the 600 metres and finished tailed off. Jockey N. Day was at a loss to explain its performance and advised steward’s the gelding did not respond to his riding. Trainer A. Malliff advised stewards he was disappointed with its performance today and will have further examination conducted early next week with blood tests and will advise stewards with the results. He further added that in his opinion LOVE ON SUNDAY would be better suited over a longer distance at this stage of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Mr Malliff was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start with the results of a blood test. GAELIC – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
