QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORTMAREEBA TURF CLUB INC. SATURDAY 26 MAY 2024WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) – SOFT 5 FOLLOWING RACE 5 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – S. Copelin Stewards – A. Holzhauser (Cadet) Y. Walburgh-Schmidt, P. Lane (Ass Stewards) GENERAL: As App. I. Teh was not riding at today’s meeting she was replaced as per steward’s summary.Race 1: TRADEMUTT BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 900 Metres BELLA'S IN COMMAND – Slow into strideLUCKY JIM – Slow into strideIAMRUSTYPARKER – Wide early and middle stages. Continued to lay in for the majority of the home straight until corrected by rider on two occasions over the final stages of the race resulting in crowding of both OVOID and SIR ROLAND. Stewards advised trainer J. Manzelmann a warning would be placed on mare’s racing manners. Stewards also advised App L Guernier, that although placed at a disadvantage, she could have made a greater effort to correct the racing line of IAMRUSTYPARKER, and consequently reprimanded App Guernier for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). OVOID – Laid out under pressure on home turn, over the final 100 metres was crowded by IAMRUSTYPARKER which laid in under pressure resulting in OVOID being taken in crowding SIR ROLAND who had to be restrained.RACATOON – Wide early and middle stages, carried wide rounding the home turn by OVOID which shifted out under pressure, then awkwardly placed on the heels of IAMRUSTYPARKER which at the same time laid in under pressure. SIR ROLAND – Restrained by rider after being crowded by OVOID over the final 100 metres. Stewards considered an objection lodged by the rider of 3rd placed RACATOON (App. T Leslight) assisted by senior rider L Morrison, against IAMRUSTYPARKER (App. L Guernier) assisted by senior rider N Day, being placed 2nd in the event, alleging interference early in the home straight. After hearing evidence from those riders and the trainers of both horses, and viewing the available patrol footage, it was determined that RACATOON was inconvenienced at this point of the race when forced wider rounding the home turn by OVOID (App. G Semmens) and being awkwardly placed on the heels of IAMRUSTYPARKER which laid in slightly in under pressure. As Stewards could not attribute full responsibility for the incident to IAMRUSTYPARKER, App Leslight’s objection was dismissed, and Correct Weight was declared on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.THUMANI – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils.
