Holzhauser (Assistant Steward).GENERAL Prior to the commencement of today’s meeting all jockeys once on course were subject to an alcohol breath test prior to Race 1 at today’s meeting. Race 1: RED’S JOINERY BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 900M MAKANUI – Declared a late scratching at 12.53pm by order of the stewards as Jockey N. Day was unable to fulfill his riding engagements for the meeting and as there was no other rider available to take the riding engagement. Deductions applicable to all bets placed prior to 12:53pm. 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets. 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. Any monies invested on MAKANUI were ordered to be refunded. LITTLE LOVER – Shifted out on jumping bumping SHEZAPEARLER. SHEZAPEARLER – Bumped by LITTLE LOVER on jumping. GROVERS PREDICTION – Shifted out on jumping tightening ASSYMETRY who was on the inside of THE WALLET. Wide for the majority of the race. ASSYMETRY – Tightened for room on jumping by GROVERS PREDICTION which shifted out. SPINELESS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. EXSENSIBLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2: FNQ PLATINUM PAINTING OPEN Plate 900M THUMANI – On completion of race was showing signs of heat stress / exhaustion and was treated by the on-course veterinarian. After responding well to veterinary treatment trainer A. MALLIFF was advised the gelding would require a full veterinary work-up and certificate clearance prior to the geldings next jump-out, trial or race start. AR 20(e). Trainer A. MALLIFF further advised stewards it’s his intention to now retire the gelding from racing. Race 3: GREGG CONSTRUCTIONS PTY LTD Maiden Plate 1210M MISSISSIPI ALIBI – Began awkwardly. MAJESTIC BLAZE – Slow to begin, raced wide for the majority. TINDER SWINDLER – Over-raced in the early stages. RICH FLEX – Slipped over returning to the saddling enclosure and was subject to a veterinary examination by the on-course veterinarian which the gelding was slightly distressed. Trainer M. TAYLOR was advised the gelding required a veterinary certificate clearance prior to the geldings next jump-out, trial or race start. AR 20(e). Race 4: RUSSO’S QUALITY MEATS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1210m The start time for this race was brought forward due to impending storms in the area. Race 5 was also brought forward for this reason. LITTLE RED PEPPER – Fractious in the barriers and began awkward losing ground. FEARGACH – After beginning with the field it settled at the rear until losing ground and tailing off. The rider C. Jokic advised stewards the horse did not respond to her riding. Trainer A. MALLIFF was advised the gelding would be required to trial / jump-out to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to the geldings next jump-out, trial or race start. AR 20(e). Trainer A. MALLIFF further advised stewards it’s his intention to now retire the gelding from racing. MAZZARATTI – Raced keenly in the early stages.BORLOTTI BEANS – Over-raced early stages, rider reported the gelding tended to lay out in the early stages. Race 5: GA SCLIPPA SOLICITOR BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1500m Prior to declaring correct weight stewards viewed the film of the start to determine if MISHANI BURN was afforded a fair start. After viewing the film stewards determined the gelding’s barrier manners contributed to it missing the start and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. Trainer A. MALLIFF was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. MISHANI BURN – Fractious in the barrier, reared on barrier release and lost ground. WISHNOWSKY- Commenced racing wide from the 400 metres, laid out under pressure around the home turn forcing MERRY OLD SOUL wider.
