Ms Garbriel-Royes explained that after acquiring the horse and racing it Richmond 16/06/2018, she had discovered shoeing issues that in her opinion was not beneficial the welfare of the animal and as such had made arrangements for THE GIRLS IN PARIS to be treated by a professional blacksmith in Mount Isa as this service was not available in Richmond. The horse was transported to Mount Isa following its start at Richmond and was to be collected at the McKinlay Race Meeting Saturday 23/06/2018 which was subsequently abandoned. She further added that the horse had been under her instructions whilst stabled with a licensed person in Mount Isa and was returning back to her stables in Richmond following today’s race meeting. Whilst Stewards noted Ms Garbriel-Royes explanation, she was nonetheless advised of her obligations under LR41 and that she must advise Stewards of any changes in relation to this rule immediately in future.

Trainer D. Sanders pleaded guilty to a charge under LR41 in that she permitted an unlicensed person to handle her runners at today’s meeting. Ms Sanders was fined the sum of $200.
