QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB – SATURDAY 6thth APRIL 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – SAND RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSStewards – P Lane, D LaneStarter – C MooreClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – M BieriVeterinarian – K Stretton Swab Attendant – Veterinarian GENERALThe start of the race meeting was significantly delayed due to the late arrival of the ambulance. Race 1: STEEJO PRESS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1450m ENGINE FIFTY FIVE – Slowly away. Laid in under pressure down the running. BORN TO FIRE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Race 2: RAPS SURF & TURF MAIDEN PLATE 1000m WILLWIWIN SOME - Resented the kickback in running. POWER ‘N’ DESIGN – Jockey T Brummell dismounted on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer K Krogh was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start. BOOTIFULBLUE – Jockey R. McMahon was fined $100 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 3: CAVA HYDRAULICS CLASS B HANDICAP 900m MY MIND IS MADEUP – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. GREY FACTOR – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. RED FACETS – Resented the kickback in running. Jockey A. Spradau pleaded guilty to a charge under AR229(1)(a) in that he engaged in improper conduct by attempting to deceive the Clerk of Scales by weighing in without the saddle he used in the race. Jockey Spradau’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 weeks to commence at midnight, Saturday April 6th 2019 up to and including Saturday April 20th 2019. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Spradau’s personal circumstances and his conduct during the inquiry and his guilty plea, but were also mindful of the seriousness of the offence and the potential ramifications. Jockey Spradau was advised of his right to internal review. Race 4: TREVOR MORRIS BUILDERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 900m CHARLIE GARCON was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3:30pm after being kicked by another horse behind the barriers and sustaining a laceration to the near hind leg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all moneys wagered on the gelding be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed prior to 3:30pm be subject to deductions of 5cents in the dollar win and 6cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. SLITHERING SUZIE – Slowly away. SPLIT THE ATOM – Slowly away. TWO OF A KIND – Hung in down the running Race 5: MOUNT ISA MINING SUPPLIES CLASS 4 PLATE 1200m LORD WINDERMERE – As A. Spradau was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider of the gelding by D. Ballard. A. Spradau was fined a sum of $100 under AR190 (3) SENSEOFWONDER – Was tightened between runners soon after the start. WATTO’S JET – Over-raced in the early stages. Race 6: QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m MY CRIMSON LAD – Slowly away, raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 7: COLONIAL SUPERMARKET ‘THE MAXI’/OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE HEAT OPEN HANDICAP 1200m GOOD JOB BRO – Slowly away. HEROISM – Slowly away. NIGHT ATTIRE – Jockey R.
