Smith Race 1: STEEJO PRESS QTIS Maiden Plate – 1000M WICKED PEARL – Late scratching at 12.10pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice following the filly being injured in the tie up stalls at the track. Betting had not commenced at this time. CHAUSIE – Jumped outwards and bumped another runner. Travelled very wide rounding the home turn. MAHONEY – Jumped inwards bumping another runner. Near the 150m appeared to shy at something causing rider to become unbalanced. REASON FOR TREASON – Hampered by runners from both sides on jumping. Rider on being interviewed advised the mare had then strongly resented the kickback and refused to travel. Further advised he had recommended gear changes to the trainer. STAR SINGER – Slow to gather speed in the early stages. JACK REACHER – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. KING’S FLING – Raced wide most of the way. Race 2: TREVOR MORRIS BUILDERS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap – 1000M LILY AMORA – Late scratching at 1.30pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice following the mare being injured in the tie up stalls at the track. Betting had not commenced at this time. BAMBY – Blundered badly on jumping losing ground and raced wide most of the way. LADY CHICAGO – Jumped awkwardly losing ground. SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. CAPTAIN’S PICK – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. OAKFIELD COSTA – Raced wide throughout. STOLE THE SHOW – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 3: COLONIAL SUPERMARKET BENCHMARK 69 Handicap - 1000M . SAFDIE – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn.Raced wide rounding the home turn. SLITHERING SUZIE – Raced wide all the way. WORLD OF PAIN – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. WICKED WIKI – Raced wide rounding the home turn LORD WINDERMERE – Slow to begin. Performed below expectations. Rider advised the gelding had again resented the kickback and was up in class today being eligible for lower class races. She further advised that in her opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Race 4: CAVA LORD DERBY STAKES Class 3 Plate – 1200M WICKED QUEEN – Late scratching at 12.30pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice following the mare being injured in the float enroute to the track. Betting had not commenced at this time. Prior to betting commencing in this race a public announcement was broadcast at the track to the effect of the race tactics which were to be employed on BOLD SAM and ECHELON ROSE both trained by Jockey/Trainer J. Babarovich. ALIK – Jumped awkwardly and blundered soon after the start. Raced wide most of the way. Prior to the declaration of correct weight rider and trainer viewed the patrol film and were satisfied. Correct weight was then declared. MOVING TARGET – Approaching the 1000m shifted outwards to obtain clear running and in doing so inconvenienced another runner. Rider T. Brummell, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. BELIEVE IT OR NOT – Inconvenienced by another runner near the 1000m. MY CRIMSON LAD – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. MAKATITI – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. ECHELON ROSE – Raced wide most of the way. BOLD SAM – Raced wide most of the way. Approaching the 100m shifted in under hard riding when not fully clear of another runner. Rider J. Babarovich, was advised to exercise more care and keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. Race 5; COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/THE ISA HOTEL SPRING CUP OPEN Handicap – 1450M KAPSET – Blundered on jumping. Bump with another runner near the 1300m. ROCK TSAR – Jumped awkwardly. SNIPPY STRATEGIC – Bumped with another runner at near the 1300m. Raced wide rounding the 600m turn. KING SOLOMON – Raced wide rounding the 1200m turn. RECALCULATE – Raced wide rounding the 600m turn.
