GENERAL
 
Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer Mr K Krogh for the late declaration of riders in races 3, 4 and 7.
 
Trainer Mr J Bawden was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of riders at todays meeting. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr Bawdens record in relation to the rule and the circumstances surrounding the breach.
 
 
Race 1 – Benchmark 60 Handicap 900m
 
STAR FACTOR- Was declared a late scratching at 11:04am when the mare refused to load. Trainer T Parry was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorly before again being permitted to start in a race.
 
CLATEAU- Commenced to race ungenerously near the 500m and lost ground. Jockey J Esser advised he believed the gelding to have resented the heavy kickback at that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BROOKLANDS- Layed in under pressure down the running and bumped the hind quarters of LORD WINDERMERE (Jockey M Gray) near the 100m. Jockey J Hoopert was cautioned and advised to stop riding and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.
 
HUNTING- Raced wide thoughout
 
ANSINNA- Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 2 –  Maiden Plate 1000m
 
ON TOP ONCE MORE- Was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 10:00am when no suitable rider was available.
 
CHANTILLY BAY- Slow to begin and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
PIQABOO- Resented the kickback in the home straight and failed to finish the race off as a result. Raced wide throughout.
 
BELAR BLUE- Raced wide throughout.
 
THE MARSHALL- Raced wide throughout. Jockey M Gray was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Grays recent record in relation to the rule.
 
GREY ARTEMIS- Jockey J Babarovich was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Babarovichs good recent record in relation to the rule.
 
 
 
Race 3 – Benchmark 45 Handicap 1000m
 
AL MAH ROCKET- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Lost ground near the 500m after becoming awkward when racing in restricted room.
 
PRINCE OF BARODA- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Finished tailed off. Trainer  Parry advised she believed todays event to be too short for the gelding and expected a better peformance when travelling over more ground. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
HIDDEN CHIEF- Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY- Knuckled at the start. Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping.Trainer Mr J Jackson was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Mr Jacksons exemplary record in relation to the rule.
 
 
Race 4 – Open Handicap 1000m
 
YARRAPOWER- Fractious in the barrier. Bucked as the start was effect dislodging its rider. Trainer Mr J Morris was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Jockey D Ballard was uninjured and declared himself fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
WORLD OF PAIN- Restrained and shifted wider to avoid the kickback near the 700m.
 
SAFDIE- Jockey J Babarovich reported that his mount raced in restricted room near the 500m and lost some ground as a result.
 
RECALCULATE- Finished tailed off. When questioned regarding the poor performance Trainer Mr G Tipping advised that whilst the gelding had performed well over races of a similar distance in the past, he believed todays slow pace did not suite the geldings racing pattern. Jockey Hancock reported the gelding never travelled comfortably in running. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. None the less, Mr Tipping was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
GALEA WARRIOR- Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
 
SPLIT THE ATOM- Jockey J Hoopert was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards noted Jockey Hooperts exemplary record in relation to the rule.
 
 
Race 5 – Benchmark 65 Handicap 1450m
 
SURGICAL- Began Awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
DO I HAVE TO- Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
CHANDON KISSES- Raced wide thoughout.
 
KING SOLOMON- Raced wide for the majority.
 
NIGHT ATTIRE- Jockey J Esser was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In considering penalty Stewards noted Jockey Essers exemplary record in relation to the rule.
 
 
Race 6 – Class 6 Plate 1200m
 
BUON NATALE- Slow into stride. Jockey J Esser reported that the gelding resented the kickback after being slowly away. Performed below expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
LE CHIFFRE- Began to race extremely awkwardly from the 800m-600m loosing significant ground before recommencing to race true. Jockey R Hancock was unable to provided any possible cause for the geldings performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. None the less, Trainer Mr S Royes was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before the gelding was again permitted to start in a race.
 
LAST SIDE- Raced wide throughout.
 
BOLLENTE- Raced wide throughout.
 
BOLD SAM- On return to scale Jockey J Babarovich reported that the bit had become twisted in the geldings mouth and as such it hungout throughout the event.
 
 
Race 7 – QTIS Benchmark 55 Handicap 1200m
 
DARK ARCHER- Knuckled at the start and then shifted out tightening another runner.
 
BACCHUR- Tightened between runners on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
MOVING TARGET- Slow away.
 
IMAGINALTHEPEOPLE- Raced wide throughout.
 
NO CRYSTAL BALL- Jockey J Hoopert was substituted as the replacement rider on the gelding after Jockey M Morris was unable to fulfil his engagements due to fatigue. After considering the matter and discussing with Jockey M Morris, Stewards advised he would be restricted to taking no more than 4 rides until such time as his fitness had improved. Raced wide throughout.
 
ECHELON ROSE- Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8 – Qtis Benchmark 55 Handicap 1200m
 
HOLOGRAM- Knuckled at the start.
 
BORN TO FIRE- Slow away.
 
MISS SIZZ- Began awkwardly. Shifted wide passing the 800m to avoid the kickback and remained wide for the remainder of the event.
 
RIO ROSSIE- Raced wide throughout. Finished tailed off. Jockey T Hill reported that the mare, which was having her first start in the region, resented the sand kickback throughout the event.
 
STAR SINGER- Slow away. Raced wide throughout.
 
IMAPOET- Raced wide throughout.
 
BRAVE JEWEL- Raced wide throughout.
 
GLOBAL ROCKET- Raced wide throuhgout.
