Race 1 – Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap (1450m)

DARK ARCHER- Bumped with and another runner at the start.

MACMISSILE- Bumped with another runner at the start. Shifted out passing the 1400m hampering PRINCE OF BARODA (K Ballard) placing that runner in restricted room as a result and lost some ground. Jockey R Payne was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident.

ECHELON ROSE- Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

PRINCE OF BARODA- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

FIRE RANGER- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

SURGICAL- Began to tire noticeably passing the 600m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained minor lacerations to both hind fetlocks and a minor laceration to off-hind pastern. Trainer Miss T Parry was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before the gelding was again permitted to start in a race.

MOVING TARGET- Jockey W D’Avila was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 4 – Ratings Band 0-65 Handicap (1000m)

LE CHIFFRE- Bucked shortly after the start. Trainer Mr S Royes was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to ascertain whether a false start had occurred. After liasing with Starter, Mr M Cummings, it was ascertained that the barrier gates had opened prior to him effecting the start. After viewing the patrol footage Stewards were of the opinion that all runners had been afforded a fair start with the exception of READY ZAIM FIRE (J Esser) which was fractious at the time the barrier gates had opened. Consequently, READY ZAIM FIRE was declared a non-runner under the provisions of AR204(c) having been denied a fair start and acting under the provisions of AR203 Stewards declared the race valid and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.

Race 5 – Maiden Plate (1100m)

YEAH BOI- Bumped with another runner on jumping.

SHANAHAN- Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MONGELLICA- Knuckled at the start. Passing the 850m was forced to check when SHANAHAN (K Ballard) shifted out and away from the hind quarters of YEAH BOI (P Romeo) which also shifted out whilst racing ungenerously. Simultaneously THE MARSHALL (M Gray) shifted in marginally contributing to the tightening. Being unable to attribute the interference to the actions of any one rider or riders, Stewards were of the opinion the interference was a racing incident.

CHANTILLY BAY- Stood flat footed losing significant ground. Trainer Mr S Seymour was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
