GENERAL
 
Race 1 –  Benchmark 45 Handicap (1450m)
 
TOSS OF A COIN- Began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping.
 
CAPTAINS PICK- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
GOT THE TICKETS- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
ECHELON ROSE- Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide the majority.
 
ALMAH ROCKET- Slow to begin. Raced wide the majority.
 
SUGAR RAY RED- Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early and middle stages. Finished tailed off. Jockey J Esser reported he believed his mount to have resented the softer racing surface of todays track. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
IMAPOET- Raced wide the majority.
 
 
Race 2 – QTIS Benchmark69 Handicap (1450m)
 
SPANISH HURRICANE- Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Raced wide throughout. Finished tailed off. Trainer J Morris advised he believed the weight differential and todays race being shorter than the geldings best distance to have resulted in the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
RAPTOR- Raced wide throughout.
 
ROCK TSAR- Raced wide throughout. Jockey J Babarovich was fined the sum of $100 under the provisons of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 3 – Class B Handicap (900m)
 
BELAR BLUE- Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer Miss S Royes as to the late declaration of rider on the gelding.
 
A’RICHBRUNETTE- Difficult to load. Trainer Miss S Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare. Raced wide the majority.
 
CRYSTAL HELMET- Began awkwardly.
 
MONGELICA- Slow into stride. Raced wide the majority.
 
DAN- Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner soon aftfer jumping. Taken wider by another runner rounding the 600m turn.
 
AYLA’S ANGEL- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Commenced to hang-out rounding the 600m turn taking another runner wider. Trainer Miss S Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the mare.
 
CLARION- Raced wide the majority.
 
 
Race 4 – Maiden Plate (1000m)
 
HICKSON- Presented to the mounting yard with the incorrect saddle cloth. Miss T Parry and Jockey T Brummell were both severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR227(a) for negligence as a result.
 
HIDDEN STORM- Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide the majority.
 
CHANTILLY BAY- Stood flat footed. Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start. Passing the 200m stumbled and fell dislodging rider Jockey J Hoopert. Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a fracture to its off front cannon and was consequently humanely euthanised. Jockey J Hoopert was transported to Mount Isa Base Hospital for observation and will require a medical certificate priot to resuming race riding again. As Jockey Hoopert was no longer riding at todays meeting rider changes were made as per the Stewards race day summary.
 
 
Race 5 – Benchmark 55 Handicap (1000m)
 
ENCORONADA- Stewards permitted Jockey J Esser to ride the gelding 2.5kg over its allotted weight as no other rider was available. Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRAVE JEWEL- Bumped with another runner soon after the start.
 
HUNTING- Bumped with another runner soon after the start.
 
HOMELAND SECURITY- Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Struggled to muster early pace and commenced to raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 800m. Jockey T Brummell advised he believed the gelding to have resented the kickback at that point. Post-race vetrinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
NO CRYSTAL BALL- Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Lost ground rounding the 500m turn and performed below expectations. Jockey M Gray advised he believed the gelding to have resented the kickback at that point and noted that when the gelding has raced well in the past it was usually afforded clear running in a positive position. Trainer Mr R Burrows concurred and added, after two consecutive disappointing performances, it was his intention to give the gelding a short let up prior to racing again. Stewards noted the explanation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
OUR HUSSLER- Raced wide the majority.
 
 
Race 6 – Benchmark Handicap (1000m)
 
CAMBOOMYA- Bumped with another runner on jumping. After beginning on terms with the field failed to muster pace to maintain its position. Finished tailed off. A post-race-veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. None the less Trainer Mr J Bawden was advised a veterinary certificate of fittness would be required prior to the mare again being permitted to start in a race.
 
BORN TO FIRE- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
FRAMEWORK- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
DIXIE ROUGE- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
IN TWO MINDS- Momentarily tightened between runners shortly after jumping. Raced wide the majority.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY- Raced wide the majority.
 
ORTEGA LANE- Raced wide the majority.
 
 
Race 7 –  Open Plate (1100m)
 
TANGO RAIN- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
WORLD OF PAIN- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
BEL BURGESS- After beginning on terms with the field struggled to muster pace to maintain its position in the early stages.
 
 
Race 8 – Benchmark 60 Handicap (1200m)
 
BOLD SAM- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to hangout down the back straight and rounding the 600m corner. When questioned into the tactics adopted on the gelding Jockey/Trainer J Babarovich advised it had been his intention to race off the pace but the gelding resented his efforts to restrain it and commenced to hangout. As such, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and consequently raced in a more forward position than had been his intention. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
KING SOLOMON- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
BUON NATALE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Jockey J Esser was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
ALMIGHTY GOLD- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide the majority.
 
MANDALONG PASS- Raced wide the majority.
 
ANSINNA- Raced wide the majority.
