GENERAL
 
The start of Race 1 was briefly delayed as a number of runners arrived late on course due to transport difficulties. All remaining races were run on time.
 
Race 1: BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1450m
 
SYD’S COIN – Slowly away.
 
EXPLOSIVE MISS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALMIGHTY GOLD - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE 900m
 
Stewards permitted BE PRESENT to race unshod behind after trainer S Royes advised that the mare had become extremely fractious during attempts to fit shoes to its hind feet prior to race day.
 
GOOD TO DREAM – Slowly away.
 
KICKS BOTH FEET – Commenced to race ungenerously after being crossed by another runner soon after the start and continued to do so for the remainder of the race, finishing tailed off. Jockey J Felix reported the gelding had resented the kickback in running. Shifted near fore and off hind plates in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Parry was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
Race 3: CLASS B HANDICAP 900m
 
TOSS OF A COIN – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BUSH BEAT ROCKET – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FLOSSY TOP - Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BACCHUR – Had to be restrained passing the 650m after a runner to its outside shifted in when not fully clear.
 
NO HAT NO PLAY- Shifted in near the 650m when not fully clear of a runner to its inside. Jockey J Esser was severely reprimanded for careless riding. AR131(a).
 
BRILLIANT MISTAKE – Commenced to lose ground in the middle stages finishing tailed off. Jockey J Felix reported the gelding had resented the kickback in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Parry was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
Stewards delayed the announcement of correct weight to allow jockeys K Ballard (BACCHUR) and J Babarovich (FLOSSY TOP) the opportunity to view the official photo finish print. After doing so it was agreed that there was no discernable margin between the 2 runners and a dead heat for 1st place was declared.
 
Race 4: BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m
 
ESCADAY – Slowly away.
 
MEAZZA - Raced wide for the majority. Lost nearside winker near the 800m.
 
CLATEAU - Raced wide for the majority.
 
CHRISTMAS CREEK - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Immediately following the running of this race Stewards were informed that the photo finish camera had malfunctioned and delayed the announcement of correct weight to allow jockeys J Babarovich (CLATEAU) and S Mossman (WORLD OF PAIN) the opportunity to view a supplementary image. After doing so it was agreed that there was no discernable margin between the 2 runners and a dead heat for 3rd place was declared.
 
Race 5: QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1) 1200m
 
CLARION – Slowly away. Inconvenienced when crowded by runners to its outside near the 1000m.
 
HUGS ‘N’ KISSES - Slowly away. Restrained off heels near the 1000m.
 
CAPTAIN’S PICK - Raced wide for the majority. Obliged to shift out around heels after being crowded by a runner to its outside near the 1000m.
 
NITRO CITY - Raced wide for the majority.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY - Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate.
 
ALMAH ROCKET – Shifted in near the 1000m when not fully clear crowding runners to its inside. Jockey J Esser was severely reprimanded for careless riding. AR131(a).
 
Race 6: QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (2) 1200m
 
TIME FOR US – Slowly away.
 
IGNITE THE MAGIC – Slowly away.
 
ENCORONADA – Shifted in marginally near the 200m when tiring inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Jockey S Mossman was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
MISS SIZZ – Was inconvenienced near the 200m by another runner which shifted in when tiring.
 
KING LANDON – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SILENTUS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
HUNTING – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey J Babarovich reported the mare had resented the kickback in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
