Race 1: CAVA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1450 metres
 
ALMIGHTY GOLD (NZ) – Blundered as the start was effected then shifted in bumping heavily with a runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority.
 
GENG – Was bumped heavily shortly after the start when a runner to its outside shifted in. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
DIXIE ROUGE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
 
Race 2: TREVOR MORRIS BUILDERS RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
COME ALIVE – Jockey D Ballard was permitted to ride the mare 2.5kg over its allotted weight. Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HOLOGRAM – Was bumped by a runner to its outside which shifted in after jumping. Lost its off fore plate near the 800m.
 
BLAINE – Shifted wider near the 600m to avoid the kickback and raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
ARCING HARD – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: COLONIAL SUPERMARKET MAIDEN PLATE 1000 metres
 
EL RANCHOS (NZ) - Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near hind leg and was subsequently scratched on veterinary advice at 2:25pm.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on EL RANCHOS (NZ) be refunded in full, and further, that deductions of 13 cents in the dollar win and 16 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket be applied to all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching.
 
CRAZY SUSPECT – Jockey D Ballard was permitted to ride the gelding 1.0kg over its allotted weight. Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
WAR REVIEW – Fractious in the mounting yard. Was bumped by a runner which shifted out shortly after jumping. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer Miss T Parry was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s prerace behaviour.
 
BEAT MY DRAGON – Lost its off fore plate soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 4: STEEJO PRESS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
OKANAGAN MISS – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped with a runner to its inside on jumping. Shifted wider to avoid the kickback near the 650m and raced wide for the remainder of the race. Jockey J Hoopert reported that the mare was never comfortable in today’s conditions and that in his opinion would be better suited over more ground.
 
TRY ‘N’ RUN A MUCK – Fractious in the barrier.
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Bumped with a runner to its outside on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAGIC TOWN – Jockey D Ballard was permitted to ride the gelding 1.0kg over its allotted weight. Slowly away. Jockey D Ballard reported that he was disappointed with the gelding’s efforts over the concluding stages of the race. A postrace veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SAFDIE – Fractious in the barrier. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 5: ISA CUP JUNE 5 RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
NITRO CITY – Fractious in the barrier. Bumped with a runner to its inside approaching the 1000m.
 
BACCHUR – Bumped with a runner to its outside approaching the 1000m
 
ROCK’N BLITZ (NZ) – Knuckled on jumping and was unable to muster any early pace. Shifted wider near the 600m. Jockey D Ballard reported that the gelding had resented the kickback. Underwent a postrace veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
 
CATO – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside. Near the 1100m put in an awkward stride becoming unbalanced for a short distance and inconveniencing a runner to its outside.
 
CACTOBLASTIS – Bumped by a runner to its inside after jumping. Near the 1100m was inconvenienced when a runner to its inside became unbalanced and shifted out.
