QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB SATURDAY 28th AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – SAND RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSStewards - P Lane, P WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudges – L Finlay, L WinksVeterinarian – K StrettonStarter – M Cummings GENERALJockey J Esser who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to illness was advised he will require a Medical Clearance prior to resuming race riding. Race 1. CAMOOWEAL ROADHOUSE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m TANK ATTACK – Unable to muster pace after beginning on even terms with the field. Made up considerable ground over the concluding stages. Following the running of this event App J McGrath was taken ill, and was attended by on-course QAS Officers prior to being transported to Mt Isa Hospital for further observation. App McGrath will require a Medical Clearance prior to resuming race riding. Late scratchings and rider change due to App McGrath’s withdrawal from the race meeting as per Stewards Race Day Summary. SASSY AURA – Slowly into stride after bumping with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. COSTA ROYALE – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Race 2. MILLER & HICK FAMILIES BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000m ARFA CROWN – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. SILENTUS - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. LIVELY LASS - Raced wide for the majority. Race 3. NORTHERN RURAL GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m Due to a misunderstanding, App J McGrath was mistakenly engaged as the rider of LITTLE SPOON. After interviewing Trainer T Parry and App McGrath, and giving consideration to App McGrath’s circumstances, Stewards permitted her to forego the engagement. As no other suitable rider was available LITTLE SPOON was declared a late withdrawal at 11.30am. BLACKLISTED – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey J Babarovich was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. This was Jockey Babarovich’s 2nd breach of the rule. BACCHUR – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. MAGIC TOWN – Raced wide for the majority. LEVEL EIGHT – Raced wide for the majority. WE’LL BEAT IT – Jockey K Ballard reported that the gelding, which performed below market expectations, was never comfortable on today’s soft track conditions. Race 4. SULLY’S OUTBACK CARPENTRY & QNT CONTRACTING AND PASTORAL SERVICES CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m CRAZY SUSPECT – Raced wide for the majority. TORA SUMI – Raced wide for the majority. MARCI MAGIC – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5. POST OFFICE HOTEL CAMOOWEAL CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1450m Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer S Royes for her failure to scratch BUON NATALE by the prescribed time. Nonetheless Ms Royes was advised the normal fees would apply. WARRUMBUNGLE – Due to circumstances beyond Trainer G Tipping’s control, Blinkers were not included in form publications as part of the gelding’s racing gear. As such, Stewards granted permission for the gelding to race in Blinkers. This information was broadcast via on-course public address. Raced ungenerously, and lost considerable ground in the early stages, due to the kickback in running. Shifted wider leaving the 600m and finished off fairly. EMPIRE GAMES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Finter advised, that in his opinion, the gelding is better suited on a firmer surface than that of today’s race. CASH BUNDLE – Raced wide for the majority.
