Race 1 – MERRY XMAS Benchmark 60 Handicap 1450 metres THE DECKERAIDER – Stewards permitted Apprentice J Edwards to ride the gelding whilst be unable to claim her full allowance. When considering the matter Stewards accepted submissions from Trainer J Morris who was acting on behalf of Apprentice Edwards’ master and also accepted submissions from Apprentice Edwards. Trainer Morris stated that Apprentice Edwards had made a considerable effort to lose the required weight but had failed to do so due to the humidity and lack of resources at her disposal in the area. Stewards also took into account Apprentice Edwards’ relative inexperience. MYOLA MILLY – Raced wide for the majority. DUSKY DAMSEL – Raced wide for the majority. IMMUTABLE – Raced wide for the majority. Race 2 – STEEJO PRESS Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000 metres FLASH HOMBRE – Race wide for the majority. ILLECEBROUS – Raced wide rounding the home turn. CHRISTMAS CREEK – Raced wide foe the majority. Shifted in marginally under pressure over the concluding stages. DUNNERS – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mild abrasion to the off hind coronet band. Race 3 – CAVA GROUP Maiden Plate 3-Y-O & Up Set Weights 1200 metres SUNNY EKCELS – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. EL RANCHOS (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority. MATCHFOX – Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice J Edwards reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout over the heavy going. Race 4 – TERRY MORRIS BUILDERS QTIS Benchmark 50 Handicap 1200 metres WOTS WONG – Apprentice J Edwards was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR207 in that she sent her saddle with the incorrect saddle cloth fitted. Trainer J Bawden was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR106 in that he presented WOTS WONG for inspection with the incorrect saddle cloth fitted. Fractious in the barrier. Underwent a prerace veterinary examination behind the barriers and was subsequently declared fit to start. Slowly away. Apprentice J Edwards reported that the gelding was unable to muster pace throughout. DJEBEL READY – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. ROCKETHEAD – Bumped with a runner to the outside shortly after the start. WHITS END – Raced wide for the majority. FA FA – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5 – SEE YA NEXT YEAR Open Handicap 1200 metres MR TINDALL – Stewards permitted Apprentice J Edwards to ride the gelding without utilising her full claim as per the explanation given prior to the running of Race 1. Blundered as the start was affected. KAPSET – Began awkwardly. FULL OF FIRE – Severely blundered as the start was affected. Raced wide for the majority. LEVEL EIGHT – Raced wide for the majority.
