QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB MONDAY, 17 OCTOBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SAND RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE COURSE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. Cummins Race 1: CAVA HYDRAULICS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1450 metres Shivkhani – Raced wide for the majority. Le Force – Raced wide in the early and late stages. The Stewards questioned jockey B. Richardson regarding her riding tactics on the gelding. Jockey Richardson advised that she was instructed to ride Le Force forward, and when unable to lead, the horse was caught in a four-wide position until the 800m when it failed to respond to riding and started to concede ground. She advised that she did not elect to race with cover in the back straight due to sand kickback. Le Force underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Morris advised that Le Force would be spelled following today’s disappointing performance. Myola Milly – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A Million Dreams (NZ) – Stewards questioned Trainer T. Parry regarding the improved performance of the mare in winning today’s event compared to the horse’s previous start at Cloncurry on 7th October 2022, where it finished in the last position, beaten by a considerable margin. Ms Parry advised that at its previous start, A Million Dreams (NZ), when ridden by Jockey T. Townsend, had missed the start considerably and resented the kickback on the Cloncurry track. Stewards noted the explanation. Testardo – Slow into stride. Race 2: LES HUDDY MEMORIAL BRACELET OPEN Handicap 1200 metres Doom – Began awkwardly. Louie the Legend – Began awkwardly. Jockey T. Hill reported that he accidentally dropped his whip at the 200m. Lucky Machu – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: SUNSET BUTCHERY QTIS Maiden Plate 1200 metres Hangin' High – Raced wide in the middle stages. Rapid Style – Declared a late scratching at 11:40 pm due to no available rider. Single Malt – Jumped in the air as the start was affected and was slow into stride. Inclined to over-race in the early stages. Zouwest – Slow to begin, tightened shortly after the start. Hung in on the turnout of the back straight when racing wide. Raced wide in the middle stages. Trainer J Morris was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding. He advised that Zouwest was having his first race start for his stable since purchase and that he was initially disappointed with the performance. On viewing the Stewards Patrol film, he advised that he felt that Zouwest had only weakened over the final 100 metres. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Hollywood Scandal – Resented the kickback in the middle stages of the race. Let's Runaway – Raced wide in the middle stages. On returning to scale, Let’s Runaway was distressed, and Jockey R. Faehr dismounted to allow the mare to be unsaddled while still on the track. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which confirmed the mare to be suffering severe heat stress. The mare will require a veterinary certificate of fitness before being permitted to start again. Rusty Rose – Permission was granted to remove the Visors and race in Blinkers. Street Cause – Raced wide in the middle stages. Race 4: VALE PETER MCLEISH BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 metres Scarpa – Raced wide early. Crystal Helmet – Raced wide early. All About Me – Jumped a shadow on the track when approaching the winning post. Em Cee Gee – Raced wide early and made the home turn awkwardly. Fudginit – Blundered at the start dislodging Jockey J. Babarovich. After being examined by the QAS paramedics, Jockey J. Babarovich was cleared for further riding engagements. Fudginit underwent a post-race veterinary examination, revealing a small abrasion to the mare’s muzzle. Race 5: STEEJO PRESS BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1000 metres Arcing Hard – Blundered as the start was affected. Raced wide throughout. Raced ungenerously over the final 150m. Meteorano - Raced wide throughout. Yufcalledcharlie – Blundered as the start was affected. Raced wide. Blundered momentarily at the 300m. Liz' Delight – Raced wide throughout. Gossiping Girl – Suffered cardiac arrest making the home turn, and collapsed, dislodging Jockey J. Babarovich. Gossiping Girl was subsequently found by the official veterinarian to be deceased on arrival.Jockey J. Babarovich was examined and treated at the scene by QAS paramedics before being transported to Mt Isa Hospital for further observations. Rockethead - Raced wide throughout. Race 6: TREVOR MORRIS BUILDERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap 1450 metres Due to a delay following the fall in the previous race, this event started 10 minutes later than the advertised starting time. Art Thief – Raced wide throughout. Injustice – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Riverside Blues – Blundered shortly after the start. Stroke Of Magic – Fractious on the way to the barriers, contacting the outside running rail. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and the mare was passed fit to start in the event. Slow to begin. Trainer J. Bawden was notified of a warning regarding the mare’s pre-race behaviour. King Landon (NZ) – The Stewards questioned jockey J. Felix regarding why his mount lost ground approaching the 1200m. He advised that the gelding dropped the bit, did not respond to his riding at that stage, and later ran home strongly. The explanation of J. Felix was noted. Blax – Raced wide throughout. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Nitro City – Fractious in the barriers. Race 7: MALOUF AUTO'S Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres Due to a previous delay, this race started 5 minutes later than the advertised starting time. Wild Express (NZ) – Raced disappointingly. Jockey J. Hoopert and Trainer J. Morris were questioned regarding the performance of the gelding. J. Hoopert advised that he was instructed to ride the mount in a forward position and that Wild Express (NZ) was never travelling comfortably when endeavouring to do so. Trainer J. Morris advised that the gelding was having its second race start for him since purchasing from Victoria, and the horse had been disappointing thus far. Both explanations were noted. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. The Delinquent – Raced wide throughout.
