VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Approaching the 1250m, momentarily became awkward in its action. Race 2: CAVA HYDRAULICS QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000m Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey D. Graham the rider of the second placed SOOPAT against STAR MIDFIELDER (N. Yadi) being declared the winner, alleging interference in the vicinity of the 150m. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that near the 150m, STAR MIDFIELDER, who was hanging in severely, shifted in, resulting in SOOPAT having to alter course to the outside to gain clear running. Stewards however bearing in mind the proximity to the finish line, the official margins and how both runners finished the race off over the final 100m, could not be satisfied that had this incident not occurred that SOOPAT would have finished ahead of STAR MIDFIELDER at the conclusion of the event and therefore the objection was dismissed, and correct weight given on the judges semaphored numbers.SOOPAT – Approaching the 150m, was obliged to shift to the outside when awkwardly placed on the heels of STAR MIDFIELDER who was hanging in severely.
