QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACING CLUB SATURDAY 9th MARCH 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL True PENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Stewards Panel – S Nosworthy [(Cadet) (Chair)]; P Warren and R Neal, SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL‘Stewards permitted the following overweights:Race 2 – B. Stower +0.5kgRace 3 – D. Graham +3.0kgRace 3 – T. Hill +0.5kgRace 3 – K. Ballard +0.5kgRace 3 – J. Baker +0.5kg The following horses were declared a late scratching at 12:00pm due to no rider being available:Race 3 – No 6. GREAT I AMRace 5 – No 5. SPURCIFIC JOURNEY Trainer Ms T Parry was reprimanded under LR 36(6)(b) for failing to scratch dual acceptor LOUIE THE LEGEND from Race 4 by the required time.Trainer J Baker advised the Stewards of the intended tactics of his two runners in Race 5. Race 1: SUNSET BUTCHERY MAIDEN PLATE 1,000 M GEORGY THE GREAT – slow to begin. LINGY – laid in over the final 200 metres. POSITIVE REWARD – slow to begin; raced wide throughout. Rider reported the gelding felt indifferent in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the left front knee. Trainer Kerry Krogh was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to POSITIVE REWARD next racing. SUNVALLEY DREAMING – inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. Race 2: AAA VET CLINIC CLASS B HANDICAP 1,000 M CAIERON – began awkwardly and settled back. Rider David Sparks was reprimanded under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip more than five times (7) prior to the 100 metres. GOLD TRICKLE – rider Anna Bakos reported that the mare laid out throughout. Race 3: KIDD & CO CONSTRUCTIONS RATING BAND 0 – 85 HANDICAP 1,000 M KARBORS – dipped on jumping away however recovered quickly. LUIE THE LEGEND – began awkwardly and was slow away. Inclined to lay in over the final 200 metres. ROCKSTAR DREAMS – presented at the inspection area without blinkers. Trainer Tanya Parry was fined $100.00 under AR106(1). Inconvenienced near the 150 metres. ALL AT SEA – raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. ARCING HAND – rider James Baker reported that the gelding was unsuited to the kickback during the running. Laid in near the 150 metres and had to be straightened. Race 4: ST PADDY’S DAY CUP OPEN PLATE 1,100 M DAWN TOO GOOD – had to steady when awkwardly near heels near the 1000 metres. FAB’S COWBOY – usnderwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. FULL OF FIRE – raced wide throughout. PRIMAL SCREAM – bounded at the start. WICKED WIKI – blundered on jumping away. PRIMAL SCREAM – gave ground from the 400 metres – post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the right front hoof. Trainer Shryn Royes was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to PRIMAL SCREAM next racing. Stewards investigated an incident in the early stages where DAWN TO GOOD had to steady when awkwardly near the heels of FAB’S COWBOY (D Graham) which shifted ground inward. After questioning riders and reviewing vision of the incident Ms Graham was firmly reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Race 5: BAX PLUMBING QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1,200 M CRAIGLEA ALTONA – held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. HEART OF MARBLE – gave ground from 600 metres and finished well back. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. JAKAZONE – inconvenienced near the 1,000 metres when in restricted room. SPEEDY MACHO – slow into stride from outside barrier; raced wide in the middle stages; inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. JATOBI – fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Laid out near the 1,000 metres. RUSTY ROSE – began awkwardly.
