QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB MOUNT ISA SATURDAY 29 JUNE 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – True Entire Course OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. GriffithsStewards – R Proud Scratchings: Race 1 MoggieRace 3 Louie the Legend (Engaged Race 2).Race 4 SoarhiRace 5 Eye Shoot to Win (Vet). Late Scratchings: Race 5 Eye Shoot to Win (Veterinary reasons). 12.35 p.m. race day. The following horses were late scratching at 12 noon due to no available riders –: Race 1 Knock’em Dead Kid.Race 2 Far Reaching, Let’s Go Then, Northern Girl, Hypothesize, Malabar Prince.Race 3 The Last Crusade, Miss BouchardRace 4 River Danzka, Wish I Had, Sedona. Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE - 1200m FORTIUS ALTIUS – Jumped in at the start. Commenced to concede ground from the 600 metres. MISHANI EAGLE – Trainer H Robertson was questioned regarding the improved performance of Mishani Eagle in winning today in comparison to the geldings previous start at Richmond on 15 June 2024 when placed 8th in similar company beaten some 11 lengths. Ms Robertson advised that over the 1000 metres last start, the gelding got back in the field and resented the dirt kickback after being unable to obtain a forward position. She stated that at Richmond she had given similar instructions to Jockey J Baker on that occasion to those given today , that being to ride in a forward position. However over the shorter journey at Richmond, Mishani Eagle was unable to muster pace and got well back in running. Ms Robertson advised that she would look to place the gelding in races over 1200 metres or further in future. Her explanation was noted. Race 2: BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m BITTERBLUE (NZ) – Hampered on jumping when another runner shifted in. LOUIE THE LEGEND– Blundered on jumping and shifted in hampering Bitterblue.DENMAN BLUE – After racing in restricted room at the 600 metres, Denman Blue was steadied across the heels of Sunvalley Dreaming towards the rails to obtain clear running. Jockey / Trainer J Baker advised that the gelding failed to run on after this and was disappointing. Race 3:BENCHMARK 0-50 HANDICAP 1000m CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Taken wide at the 600 metres. KISS GOODBYE – Slow to beginLADY HURIBEL – A warning was issued to connections in relation to the filly refusing to leave the saddling enclosure which then delayed the start. Correct weight was delayed to allow D Sparks the rider of the second placegetter (New Arrival) to view the photo finish. Race 4: BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000m WICKED WIKI – Raced four wide for the majority. ZUMIKON – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. MERSEY GIRL – Shift out and bumped Zumikon shortly after the start.Raced three wide for the majority. Race 5 :BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1450m METAL BAR – After being loaded Metal Bar broke through the barriers before being quickly restrained. A veterinary examination cleared the gelding to start. Jumped out and bumped Forseti when the start was affected. EYE SHOOT TO WIN – Declared a late sctratching at 12.35 p.m for Veterinary reasons. Trainer Mrs D Ballard has now supplied a veterinary certificate verify same. FORSETI – Bumped at the start and then failed to muster pace.
