QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB 24 AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – TruePENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D GriffithsStewards – R Prowd GENERAL Trainer P Inwood was reprimanded for failing to have FORSETI (Race 1) in the race day tie up stalls by the one hour prescribed time as per Local Rule 30 (1) (c) . SCRATCHINGS -: RACE 1. JACKAZONE (Emergency).RACE 2. CAFFREYRACE 3. STAR MAGNUMRACE 4. REVVED UP READYRACE 5. REVVED UP READY, LET’S GO THEN The following horses were scratched due to no available rider -: RACE 1. CIAO BICKY, RIVER DANZKA, MR.SQUIGGLE’S MATERACE 4. THECHAMP, LA PETITE MISSILE, WISH I HAD, REVVED UP READY, SNEAKY TRUTHS, GOTTA BEAT. Race 1: QTIS RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP 1450 M COUNT OF CARFORD– Raced wide throughout.DIAMONDS HANDS – Slow to begin and raced wide thereafter. Jockey J Babarovich reported the gelding commenced to hang out from the 600 metres. LORD FENRIR – Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin and raced wide thereafter. Commenced to race ungenerously from the 800 metres and appeared to resent the dirt kickback. Ran wide making the home turn.FORSETI – Slow to begin. Finished a considerable distance behind the remainder of the field. Jockey T Hill reported that his saddle rolled to the near side shortly after the start placing him at a severe disadvantage. Race 2: OPEN PLATE 1450 M READY FOR MAGIC – Declared a late scratching behind the barriers at 2.10 p.m. when a veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be extremely lame in the near-hind leg and showing signs of lameness in the near foreleg as well. A veterinary certificate of fitness for READY FOR MAGIC will be required before the gelding races again. REBEL SALUTE – Slow to begin and raced wide from the 600 metres.On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on READY FOR MAGIC was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets above the line to be applicable.Race 3: OPEN PLATE 1000 M SOOPAT – Commenced to hang out in the middle stages. Apprentice D Gillett reported that the gelding was resenting the dirt kick back and then ran on well when taken wider on the track. ZUMIKON – The gelding which is eleven years of age was examined by the Veterinary Officer pre-race and passed fit to start. A further post-race examination revealed no abnormalities.LAST DESCEND – Raced wide in the initial stages. Race 4: BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M KARBORS – Checked on jumping when tightened for room between INALA ATICUS and FEEASHIN MOON, both of which jumped awkwardly.INALA ATICUS - Tightened for room at the 700 metres and lost ground when racing to the inside of FEEASHIN MOON which shifted in.MONTREAUX- Checked at the 700 metres and lost ground when INALA ATICUS which was racing wider was taken in by FEEASHIN MOON. FEEASHIN MOON – Approaching the 700 metres, Jockey J Hoopert went to gather up his reins and consequently FEEASHIN MOON shifted inwards abruptly resulting in INALA ATICUS being tightened and taken in onto MONTREAUX which was checked. At an inquiry, it was established that whilst Jockey J Hoopert (FEEASHIN MOON) was in difficulty, he was advised to exercise care in similar circumstances. MINISTER – Trainer S Royes who oversaw the gelding was reprimanded for presenting the gelding without it’s designated approved gear – (tongue tie) AR 106 (2). Race 5: BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200 M KARATEMISS – Forced wide at the 600 metres when RISK IN ROME shifted out to improve.RUSTY ROSE – Stable representative Ms T Rafter was questioned regarding the improved performance of RUSTY ROSE which led and won today’s event, in comparison to the mare previous start at Mount Isa on 8 August 2024 where RUSTY ROSE finished last of ten runners. Ms Rafter was specifically questioned as to why RUSTY ROSE led in today’s race been ridden back in race fields in previous starts. Ms Rafter advised that she had not given specific instructions to Jockey T Hill to lead but stated that the mare races best when not experiencing kickback. Ms Rafter further stated advised that Trainer T Parry had freshened up RUSTY ROSE and had changed riders in addition to the mare dropping in class in todays race. The explanation was noted however Stewards advised Ms Rafter that they will monitor the performances of RUSTY ROSE to ensure the mare races in a consistent manner in future starts.
