RACE 1:  MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres
 
WILD ELEMENT – raced wide for majority of the event.
 
CAREFILLY – slow to begin.
 
CHURCHILL DAWN – raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
FANTASY DREAM – slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 2:  CLASS B HDCP 1200 Metres
 
BYRON BABE – obliged to steady away from the heels of a tiring runner near the 500 metres.
 
GUNDY MAGIC – rider reported at scale the gelding in his opinion did not appreciate the firm track surface.
 
METALLIC POINT – was incorrectly shown in race book as wearing blinkers instead of winkers. A public announcement was made to this effect. When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages App D Evans stated with the removal of blinkers the mare failed to show any early speed and raced further back in the field than anticipated. Stewards noted his explanation. 
 
STAR OF BETHLEHEM – raced wide for majority of the event.
 
MAMBO MISS – weakened from the 500 metres. At scale rider reported the mare did not appreciate today’s firm racing surface, and post race was noted to have sustained minor speedy cut abrasions to both forelegs.
 
DEAR MAMA – reared at the start and lost ground. Trainer’s representative for W Melvin was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.
 
 
 
RACE 3:  BENCHMARK60HDCP 1000 Metres
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow A Hayward, trainer of 4th placegetter ROCKING CONNECTION to view the photo finish image for third. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers.
 
LUSHNESS – raced wide without cover throughout.
 
FAINT BLAZE – when questioned regarding tactics rider P Romeo stated the mare was unable to muster early speed, however found the line over the final stages of the event. He added in his opinion FAINT BLAZE is looking for races over a longer distance. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
HIDDEN DUCK – raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
RACE 4: OPEN HDCP 1200 Metres
 
CHARGE MISSILE – App L Dillon pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the 300 metres when riding her mount along she allowed the gelding to shift in resulting in WINNER WIMMER being checked and losing its rightful running. After taking into account App Dillon has only been licensed for a period of 10 weeks, in addition to her guilty plea and unblemished race riding record up to this point, stewards issued a severe reprimanded.
 
CASINO BENJO – began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. When questioned regarding below market performance rider P Romeo stated the gelding in his opinion did not handle today’s firm racing surface. Trainer J Pointon was of the belief CASINO BENJI is better suited in races over a longer distance. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. 
 
WINNER WIMMER – checked leaving 300 metres when another runner shifted in when not clear.
 
 
 
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 55 CUP HDCP  1400 Metres
 
 
DEADLY DENNIS – when questioned regarding below market performance App H English stated after beginning fairly the gelding was hampered near the 1000 metres when another runner hung in and as result raced further back in the field than anticipated. She added after receiving some kickback DEADLY DENNIS dropped the bit and did not respond to her riding from that point, and in her opinion was disappointing. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer M Reardon gave an undertaking to advise stewards of any condition that may come to light in the coming days.
 
OZIEN – jumped in at the start and crowded another runner.  Hung in near the 1000 metres and hampered another runner.
 
LOGICAL OUTCOME – declared a late scratching at 4pm when failed to arrive on course. On declaration of correct weight stewards advised all bets on LOGICAL OUTCOME be refunded in full with deductions of 8 cents win and 8 cents place to apply on winning bets prior to 4pm. SP’s are not subject. Stewards contacted trainer Mr D Schultz following the event and he advised the gelding was injured when being loaded onto the float on race morning and will now be spelled. Stewards will confirm up with RISA circumstances regarding the late scratching.
 
I GOT TRIX – jumped out at the start and tightened another runner.
 
SPEEDREADER – tightened at the start between runners and lost ground.
