QRIC Stewards Report MOUNT PERRY RACE CLUB: 16th November 2019Weather: Fine Track: Good 3 (10:30 am) Rail: TrueStewards: K Daly (Chairman), D MacklynStarter: G Mooney Clerk of Scales: G Brauer Judges: J Leather, T ClareyPhoto-Finish Operator: C WeidemanVeterinarian: Dr S Rae Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres BROTHER OATEL – shifted in under pressure near 250 metres hampering SENTEIN. Rider R Faehr advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. PLUCK A WINNER – bumped on jumping away. Hampered and had to be steadied when racing in restricted room near 900 metres. CRAIGLEA HUSKY – bumped on jumping away. Checked when tightened for room near 900 metres when SENTEIN hung in. OURLASTPENNY – raced wide throughout without cover. SENTEIN – sustained laceration to its head in a stable incident on Thursday 14th November. On arrival on course was examined by Club veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. Near the 900 metres hung in despite the efforts of its rider hampering PLUCK A WINNER and checking CRAIGLEA HUSKY which were racing to its inside. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of SENTEIN. Hampered when tightened for room near 250 metres. Race 2: CLASS B HDCP: 1000 Metres CRAIGLEA ARION – raced wide without cover for majority of the event. TARGETS – slow to begin. Race 3: Ratings 0-60 HDCP 1200 Metres RUN PAM RUN – slow to begin. Had to steadied approaching 1000 metres when tightened for room. Forced wider on the track making the home-turn. BRADY ‘N’ ME – shifted in near the 1000 metres tightening RUN PAM RUN. Rider M Crawford was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Race 4: OPEN HDCP 1200 Metres Due to the build-up of storm activity in the immediate vicinity of the racecourse, and in consultation with club representatives, the starting times of Race 4 was amended to 3:35pm and Race 5 to 4:15pm. A public announcement was made to this effect. DANSU – slow to begin.Race 5: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1400 Metres FORT MEYER – when asked to comment on the below market performance, rider M Crawford stated the gelding travelled comfortably in the lead until the 400 metres however when placed under pressure soon after failed to respond to his riding and his opinion was disappointing. Trainer D Corbett concurred with the comments of M Crawford adding that in her opinion FORT MEYER may not have backed from its most recent start at Toowoomba 7 days ago. A post-race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. LEGS UNBARRED – jumped out at the start. NIGHTS ABLAZE – bumped at the start.
