Race 1: MAIDENWELL HOTEL MDN PLATE 800m


EMMZ AMELIA (T. Brooker) shifted out at the start and bumped MISS SNOWSILL (M. Abe).

MISS SNOWSILL and SPIRITED KERRIE (B. Derbyshire) were both tightened for room shortly after the start between EMMZ AMELIA and WONDERFUL TESS (R. Payne) which began awkwardly and shifted in. A short distance later SPIRITED KERRIE had to be steadied from the heels of WONDERFUL TESS which shifted in despite the efforts from its rider.

OUR STARLIGHT (C. Eaton) hung out throughout the event.

Apprentice F. Elliott rider of BLACK HARRYET reported to stewards that her saddle slipped near the 600m, placing her at a disadvantage.

Stewards questioned I. Coombes regarding the disappointing performance of SAMMY SAFECRACKER, he stated that the gelding failed to stretch out in its action and did not feel comfortable throughout the event. He added for that reason he was reluctant to place the gelding under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame. Trainer K. Hamilton will be advised that SAMMY SAFECRACKER will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.




Race 2: ROOM MOTELS KINGAROY RATING 65 HCP 1000m


Apprentice H. Phillips was issued with a reprimand for failing to claim her full allowance on SHINZO MASHURANBO and FAMECHON BARONESS in race 3.

DIAMOND HEIST (R. Goltz) was tightened for room at the start between SHINZO MASHURANBO (H. Phillips) and WILLYWYNYA (J. Missen) which began awkwardly.

MRS ASIA (B. Derbyshire) raced wide throughout the event.

Apprentice J. King rider of FLIGHT COMMAND was reprimanded for excessive whip use in a backhand manner.

Stewards questioned trainer N. King regarding the improved performance of FLIGHT COMMAND. Trainer stated that after racing wide at its most recent start, the instructions were to ride forward from the wide gate and not to be caught out wide. She also stated that the drop back in class today was also a factor in the improved performance. Stewards noted the comments.





Race 3: KEN MILLS TOYOTA MDN HCP 1200m


The start of this race was significantly delayed when BOBO dislodged rider I. Coombes during its preliminary resulting in I. Coombes requiring the attention of the ambulance officers after receiving injuries to his hand and foot. Subsequently I. Coombes was transported to hospital for precautionary reasons.

BOBO was declared a late scratching by order of stewards after galloping for a considerable distance, with the following deductions to be made applicable.
16 cents for the win
14 cents the place.

Trainer A. Hayward was advised that a warning would be placed against the geldings pre race manners.

AUBREY’S ACE (J. Letherby) began awkwardly and lost ground.

HILDESHEIM (M. Gray) shifted out at the start and bumped MISS YOU JOHNNY (T. Brooker)

Approaching the 1000m JUDGE RUBY (S. Alam) was crowded for room between FAMECHON BARONESS (H. Phillips) and MISS YOU JOHNNY (T. Brooker) which shifted out.

C. Eaton the rider of LADY HORSEPOWER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 1000m she made insufficient effort in preventing her mount from shifting in forcing MISS YOU JOHNNY to shift in, resulting in HILDESHEIM being tightened for room and having to be checked by its rider. C. Eaton’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 5 meetings to commence midnight 31 May and expire midnight 8 June 2014.

Near the 800m SMART RULER (C. Kearney) improved onto the heels of HILDESHEIM and had to be steadied.





Race 4: NANANGO RSL/GARRY & MARGARET BANKS HCP 1200m


RELEASE ME (B. Derbyshire) raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Apprentice A. Fancourt rider of DWAN reported that her saddle slipped near the 800m, placing her at a disadvantage.

M. Gray rider of MILITARY WAY reported to stewards that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action.
A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.





Race 5: NANANGO VETERNARY SURGERY B’MARK 60 HCP 1600m


GLENTHORN AVENUE (H. Phillips) shifted in at the start making contact with BAJA BOY (J. Missen)

KUTCHER (M. Gray) began awkwardly and threw its head in the air losing ground as a result.

ROCK QUIZ (S. Chan) began awkwardly.

BAMBOO HOUSE (R. Payne) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

ROCK QUIZ raced wide rounding the home turn and then had a tendency to shift in under pressure in the home straight.
