RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE 800 Metres
OBERINA LADY – stood flat footed as the barriers opened, refused to jump and took no part in the event. In view of the mare’s poor record, trainer G Richardson was advised OBERINA LADY would require to officially trial on two (2) occasions prior to its next race start. Delayed start and difficult to load and warning issued.
COUNTRY GOSSIP - began awkwardly, lost ground, raced ungenerously and then took no competitive part in the event and finished tailed off. Rider I Coombes could offer no explanation for the poor performance and a subsequent vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer C Kilshaw advised filly would be required to officially trial prior to its next race start.
SPEDELLA – tightened at the start between runners.
HAZZEL MONIQUE – shifted out at start and contacted another runner.
CHANGINTHEFORTUNE – obliged to steady rounding the hometurn when tightened by another runner.
DELIGHTFUL DANCER – shifted in under pressure rounding hometurn and caused tightening to another runner. When questioned regarding the below market performance rider W O’Connell stated the filly was having its first start today and had performed well in a recent trial, however after beginning well and travelling fairly to the 400 metres, was disappointing from that point onwards.
RACE 2: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 1000 Metres
LATIN AMERICAN – delayed start when difficult to load. Trainer B Hull advised a warning would be issued regarding the geldings barrier manners.
VAIN DAZZLER – slow to begin.
CAPTAIN CLAYTON – began awkwardly.
MISS TYPIN – raced wide early and middle stages.
COSTA LOSTA – after racing well back in the early and middle stages,app T Brooker stated unable to go the fast early pace despite her efforts and finished the race off well over concluding stages. Trainer S Thomas advised the gelding is better suited in races over a longer distance.
RACE 3: MAIDEN HDCP 1200 Metres
EDE FUSE – shifted in under pressure over final 200 metres. G Geran advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
BRONZE TIARA – slow to begin.
SAINT BARNEY – raced wide for majority of event.
SO RIDICULOUS – raced wide majority. Rider reported at scale had tendency to lay out from 600 metres.
BULLCAMP RED – held up for clear running from 300 metres until approaching finish line.
DESTINY CREEK – post race Vet examination revealed the gelding to be lame in near foreleg. Trainer S Thomas was advised DESTINY CREEK would require a Vet Certificate prior to its next race start.
RACE 4: CLASS B HDCP 1200 Metres
PARTING – correct weight delayed to determine if afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from rider D Green, starter C Ryan, and DVD relay, stewards found the filly had not been fully loaded into its outside barrier when the start was effected. Subsequently PARTING was declared a non-runner under AR134A with all bets on PARTING to be refunded in full with deductions of 19 cents face value win tickets and 16 cents face value place tickets to apply. Made contact with saddling enclosure fence when moving onto track. Examined by Vet prior to being loaded into barriers and cleared to start.
EPIC MISS – delay to correct weight to allow rider of to view photo finish image after being placed fourth. After viewing image rider satisfied with judge’s placings. Rider A Badger queried as to reason for racing so far back in field in early and middle stages and stated this is the mare’s usual racing pattern. Trainer B Gill confirmed instructions and explanation accepted.
EMPRESS AYLEAH – shifted out at start and contacted another runner.
SCORPION PRINCESS – hampered at start. Held up for clear running between 150 metres and finish line.
CHILEAN QUEEN – shifted in at start and bumped another runner. Raced wide for majority of event.
NUG’S POCKET – raced wide early and middle stages.
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1600 Metres
HELL’S KITCHEN – prior to the event and following a report from the Club shoeing inspector regarding the quality of plating on HELL’S KITCHEN, stewards ordered both the near front and off front plates to be replaced. Trainer J Kuskopf subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR141A for presenting the gelding to race when not suitability plated and fined the sum of $200. As a result this race was delayed approximately 10 minutes. Start further delayed when HELL’S KITCHEN needed to be re-saddled behind barriers. Bumped by another runner on jumping away.
OUR CLARKY – jumped in at start and bumped another runner.
COUNT ROMANO – over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
