App C Bayliss, who was dislodged in a racing incident at the Kilcoy meeting on 3/12/16 and subsequently cleared of any of injury on that day, was examined by QAS medical staff prior to his first ride today and cleared to fulfil engagements.Following transport delays due to a traffic accident, race times were re-adjusted to allow connections to arrive on course: Race 1 - 1:30pm; Race 2 – 2:05pm; Race 3 – 2:40pm; Race 4 – 3:10pm; Race 5 – 3:50pm. RACE 1: Benchmark 50 HDCP 800 Metres MONTE LAGO – rider J Hoopert reported at scale his barrier was marginally slow to open. The barriers were tested prior to the running of race 2. HIDDEN DUCK – jumped in at the start and tightened runners to the inside. I GOT A TURBO – hampered by another runner on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. CHIPEWYAN – raced wide throughout. IBELIEVEICANFLY – raced wide throughout. JEPTOO – Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer B Hudson to add a tongue tie to the mare after acceptance time. Mr Hudson was fined $100 under AR140B(2) IN TAIWAN – checked on jumping away between runners. Held up for clear running near the 100 metres. JILL’S SHADOW – jumped out at the start and tightened runners to the outside. Hung out rounding the home turn. RACE 2: Benchmark 55 HDCP 1000 Metres ISSY COMMAND – tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 150 metres when another runner shifted in. STRATALENA – checked on jumping away when another runner shifted in abruptly at the start. THE EQUINE BOLT – shifted in abruptly on jumping away and checked runners to the inside. When questioned regarding below market performance App A Spinks stated despite being caught wide the gelding travelled comfortably to the 600 metres but did not respond when pressure was applied soon after. A post race Vet examination did not reveal any significant abnormality. MAN OVERBOARD – shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres and tightened ISSY COMMAND. Rider K Yoshida was advised to show more in similar circumstances. JAI’S LUCK – checked on jumping away when another runner shifted in abruptly at the start. THE PLAYROOM – held up for clear running between the 150 metres until inside the 100 metres. RACE 3: Maiden Plate 1000 Metres SIR LOCKSMITH – App A Spinks pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 900 metres he permitted the gelding to shift in under pressure when not sufficiently clear of EXCEPTIONAL LASS which was crowded for room and had to be checked. After taking into account his good riding record and guilty plea, App Spinks was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight Tuesday 6th December up to and including Wednesday 14th December 2016. CURRENT FIGURES – shifted in momentarily near the 100 metres and contributed to tightening to another runner. App S Bayliss was advised to exercise more care. EXCEPTIONAL LASS – checked and lost ground near the 900 metres when another runner shifted in when not clear.NOTHIN’ ZAPPENIN’ – near the 100 metres shifted out under pressure and tightened another runner which had to be checked. App H English was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater in similar circumstances. In arriving at this decision stewards took into account a minor contribution from CURRENT FIGURES which shifted in marginally in this incident. MESSAGEINABOTTLE – raced wide for majority of the event. When weakening was checked near the 100 metres when taken outwards and tightened by another runner. DREAM OF CHOICE – declared a late scratching at 12:10pm after injuring its off hind leg. Trainer G Richardson was advised the mare would require a Vet certificate prior to its next race start. RACE 4: Benchmark 65 HDCP 1200 Metres Prior to declaration of correct weight L Tilley, rider of 2nd placegetter CANID, viewed the official DVD footage and lodged a protest against the winner KING COBIA (App D Graham) alleging interference rounding the home turn between the 300 and 200 metres. After hearing submissions, viewing the DVD replay and acting on their own observations stewards found that at that point of the race both KING COBIA and CANID raced tightly in a position slightly away from the rail, however in the opinion of the stewards this did not materially affect the outcome of the race. Subsequently the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judges placings. No other racing incidents. RACE 5: Class B HDCP 1600 Metres SAURIMO – slow to begin. Raced wide for majority of the event. EXCELLENT STAR – dislodged rider during preliminary, cantered for a short distance, examined by Club Vet behind barriers and cleared to start. Rider J Hoopert was examined by QSA medical staff and cleared to fulfil engagement. LADY WIVENHOE – obliged to steady away from heels near the 1300 metres when another runner shifted in.
