Race 1: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 800 Metres Acting on a confirmed phone call from trainer G Wilson, OTOSHI was declared a late scratching at 12:05pm due to a float breakdown. As betting on this race had not commenced, deductions were not applicable. Correct weight on this event was delayed to allow J Hoopert, rider of second placegetter COALBANK CAVIAR, to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. JEPTOO – when questioned regarding below market performance, rider C Eaton stated the mare races best when ridden with cover, and after being caught wide failed to run on when placed under pressure from the 400 metres. PISTOL AND BOO – rider reported at scale the colt, which was having its first race start, raced greenly throughout. CRAIGLEA CETINA – slow to begin. Race 2: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (Div 1) 1000 Metres Acting on a confirmed phone call from trainer T White, FILLY CHIC was declared a late scratching at 12:20pm due to a float breakdown. COUNT CLANG – hampered after the start when the barrier was slow to open. Barriers were subsequently successfully tested on a number of occasions prior to the running of race three. ECHELETTE – raced wide for the majority of the event. BRILLIANT MISTAKE – raced wide throughout. SOMETHINGREAL – jumped in at the start and hampered another runner. MISS DREAMBEATS – began awkwardly and lost ground. CRAIGLEA MARIAH – bumped at the start by another runner. WILHELMINA – had a tendency to lay out from the 400 metres until near the 100 metres. Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE (Div 2) 1000 Metres BEYOND PASSION – stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. DESTINY’S MATE – when questioned regarding the below market performance, app H English stated the gelding, which was second-up today had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. She added it would be the stable’s intention to now experiment with gear changes prior to DESTINY’S MATE’s next race start. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormality. WILLY BE LUCKY – began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 4: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 1000 Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow A Badger, rider of second placegetter CANNY EXCEL to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. MURRANJI – slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. TURBO TEDDY – jumped in at the start hampering another runner. Raced wide throughout. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. DRAGON STREET – when questioned over the below market performance, rider R Williams stated the gelding did not travel as well in the run as expected and had a tendency to hang out from the 400 metres until the entrance to the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of DRAGON STREET failed to reveal any abnormality. FLAVIAN – jumped out at the start bumping another runner. OUTBACK LIGHTNING – held up for clear running rounding the home turn. CANNY EXCEL – checked at the start when tightened between runners. HOPETOUN STREET – hampered at the start when the barrier was slow to open. Barriers were successfully tested on a number of occasions prior to the running of race five. MASTER DENHRO – had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. Race 5: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1200 Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow J Hoopert, rider of second placegetter LAKE ARGYLE to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. WILD ELEMENT – rider R Faehr severely reprimanded under AR137(a) for allowing WILD ELEMENT to shift in and tighten the running of PARADISKI near the 1000 metres. Stewards took into account the racing manners of PARADISKI prior to this incident. PARADISKI – over-raced and had to be steadied near the 1100 metres. Checked near the 1000 metres when tightened for room.CHEVYS DESIRE – raced wide throughout the event. Race 6: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1600 MetresENDLESS DON – raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.RUBY RAY – checked near the 1200 metres when MARLAHN hung out despite the efforts of its rider rounding the 1200 metre turn. OUR CLARKY – made the home turn wider on the track.MAXWELL – shifted out and bumped another runner near the 100 metres. App H English was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.SINGARAJA – held up rounding the home turn.LEGS UNBARRED – raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.EMPRESS ZHAO – began awkwardly and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination of EMPRESS ZHAO revealed the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer K Sempf was advised EMPRESS ZHAO would be stood down from racing for 3 months and must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of a steward prior to its next race start (AR53A).MARLAHN – hung out rounding the first turn.
