Stewards will make further enquiries with RISA to determine circumstances leading up to the withdrawal of the horse. Race 1: CLASS 2 PLATE 800 Metres PORN STAR PETE – slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event. WARNER’S LANDING – began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE: 1000 Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow App H Phillips, rider of fourth placegetter BUCK’S ME BOY to view the photo finish image for third. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings. BIG JAY KAY – declared a late scratching at 1:58 pm when unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets to be refunded with deductions of 3 cents the win and 4 cents the place face value of tickets to apply. SPs are subject to deduction. Trainer R Connelly was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. BUCK’S ME BOY – jumped out at the start. RINGO’S MAGIC – raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. FOLLY OVER – slow to begin. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD – rider S Sweeney accidently dropped her whip approaching the finish line. LIFE’S A WITCH – jumped in at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight resulting in its rider being unable to fully test the mare over the final 100 metres. SIOUXSIE – checked at the start. When asked to comment on the below market performance, trainer G Richardson stated the mare had been disappointing at its two runs since returning from a spell and it was now his intention to spell SIOUXSIE. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. TOP MARK – lost ground at the start when tightened between runners. Raced wide throughout. Race 3: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 1000 Metres TAPESTRY VISION – had a tendency to lay in under pressure shortly after the start and lost ground. THIN DISGUISE – race three-wide throughout. DAVE’S VALOR – when asked to comment on the below market performance, App H English stated the mare, after showing its customary early speed, was under pressure from the 500 metres and failed to finish the race off as expected and was disappointing. Representative for trainer D Hansen stated it was now the intention for the mare to be sent for a spell. MURRANJI – slow to begin. MAC’S GAL – raced four-wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure approaching the finish line. STICK WITH ME – slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the final 150 metres. Steadied from heels approaching the finish line. MORE WORLDLY – raced three-wide throughout. Race 4: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1200 Metres Following the declaration of correct weight on the numbers 4, 3, 1, 11, Stewards a short time later became aware that the Judge had incorrectly semaphored number 3 - GOLD CROWN as second place-getter, when in fact number 8 – TELLOFF had finished in second position. After taking evidence from Photo Finish Operator, Mr C Weidemann and Honorary Judge Mr G Knight, and viewing the official photo finish image, it was established that both Mr Weidemann and Mr Knight incorrectly identified the saddle cloth number of TELLOFF. In acknowledging that a serious error had been made, Stewards noted only the reverse photo finish image was able to be viewed, and in addition the saddle cloth number of TELLOFF was partially obscured. Stewards, acting under AR156(3), subsequently corrected the mistake and altered the placings accordingly to read 4, 8, 1, 11. Prior to the situation being corrected it was noted one wager only with on-course bookmakers was affected, with this bet being paid in favour of the punter. A report on judging protocols will be forwarded to the QRIC Chief Steward for further consideration. MAC’S BOY – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer B Park was advised MAC’S BOY would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start. GOLD CROWN – bumped near the 100 metres. LADY SELKIE – tightened on jumping away and lost ground. Approaching the 100 metres shifted out and bumped GOLD CROWN. MAN OVERBOARD – slow to begin. TELLOFF – laid out rounding the home turn.
