Acting under AR20(d) Stewards ordered the withdrawal of both horses at 10.45am. Stewards intend to interview Trainer R. Smith regarding the matter at a later date. Race 1 – Bechlys Transport Class B Handicap 800mCURRY CONNECTION – Bumped at the start. GIN AND TONIC – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping CURRY CONNECTION. Shortly after was tightened between runners. Raced wide with cover for the majority. MISTA MAYBE – Bumped at the start and shifted in, inconveniencing GIN AND TONIC. AIRPORT – Shifted in at the start and tightened runners to its inside. Raced wide with cover. GLAM ROCK – Began awkwardly. RHETORICAL – Bumped at the start. Jockey H.Phillips reported that the mare had raced greenly in the home straight. OUR BOY BORRIS – Shifted in at the start and made contact with RHETORICAL. CATHVALANNA – Approaching the 600m, bumped on a number occasions with GLAM ROCK. Raced 3 wide without cover. Laid in over the concluding stages. MISS CAROLEE – Began awkwardly. Raced 4 wide without cover. Due to its pre-race manners, Stewards advised trainer G.Richardson that the mare would be required to complete two satisfactory barrier trials prior to its next start. Race 2 – Heritage Bank Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000mStewards declared STAR FACTOR a late scratching at 12.15pm due to transport difficulties. The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R.Faehr to review the photo finish. Once satisfied, Stewards declared correct weight on the judges placings. After reviewing the footage of the start Stewards were of the opinion that outside barrier partition on CASH N RUN may have swung back partially on the gelding. Stewards were of the opinion that CASH N RUN was afforded every opportunity to began with the rest of the field and therefore deemed a runner. RITCHFORD – Shifted in at the start and bumped SHIVER ME TIMBERS. MACHU PICCHU – Bumped at the start and shifted in across the heels of ARNWOOD and RITCHFORD. CANID – Shifted in at the start and bumped MACHU PICCHU. CASH N RUN – Was slow to begin due to the outside barrier partition swinging back partially onto the gelding. Slow into stride. Raced wide. DREAMALINA – Shifted in abruptly at the 150m causing MACHU PICCHU to shift out to avoid heels and find clear running. Jockey V.Venkaya reported that the mare had raced greenly in the straight and in his opinion would benefit from the addition of blinkers. KRUGER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Race 3 – Nanango Caravan Service & Repairs Maiden Plate 1200mPrior to the running of this race, the barriers were tested and deemed suitable for use. The start of this race was delayed when BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA broke through the barrier gates and ran a short distance before being pulled up. Subsequently the filly underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start. COALBANK CAVALRY – Shortly after the start, commenced to race greenly shifting in abruptly and then attempted to buck for a short distance. Trainer B.Hudson was advised that the gelding would be required to complete a satisfactory jump out prior to its next start. DREAM ON LUCY – Began awkwardly and bumped MOSS ‘N’ DIAMONDS. Raced 3 wide without cover. MOSS ‘N’ DIAMONDS – Raced 4 wide without cover.VENTURES SIGHT – Jockey S.Lacy reported that the mare had stepped back as the start was effected and therefore was slow to begin. CAMOUFLAGE GIRL – Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight. BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Reared as the start was effected and shifted out. Shifted in abruptly approaching the 150m when the whip used on the first instance and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. Race 4 – Nanango Bookmakers Association Benchmark 50 Handicap 1200mBEAUTY SECRETS – Laid in over the home straight and had to be straightened by its rider passing the 100m. BON COURAGE – Began awkwardly and was then hampered by BEAUTY SECRETS which shifted out on jumping. WILD ELEMENT – Raced wide. Cast the off hind plate during running. IMAPOET – Raced wide. Jockey K.Gates was reprimanded under rule AR.184(b)(iii) for failing to weigh out without a girth. Stewards took into consideration Ms Gates impeccable disciplinary record and acknowledged that this was an error and not an attempt to deceive officials to gain a weight advantage. Race 5 – Nanango Bookmakers Association Benchmark 50 Handicap 1200mThe start of this race was delayed to allow VENETIAN BEAUTY to undergo a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start. BACCHUR – Shifted out at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover. HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Raced 3 wide with cover. POSITIVE SPIN – Raced 3 wide with cover. BRAD THE LAD – Raced 4 wide without cover. Race 6 – Ken Mills Toyota Benchmark 55 Handicap 1600mDue to apprentice A.Taylor being unable to claim her full allowance of 3kg, Stewards consulted with Trainer D.Gardiner who sought permission to allow Ms Taylor to fulfil her riding engagement on HARBOUR SKIES. Stewards allowed the request. Apprentice A.Taylor was reprimanded by Stewards under rule AR.143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full apprentice allowance. After becoming fractious in the mounting yard, slipped over and dislodged its rider. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start. The start of this race was delayed when GALLOPINAKIS become fractious behind the barriers, bumping the barriers before dislodging its rider and then making contact with the outside fence before being recaptured. The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start. STORMBORN ANGEL – Raced wide for the majority. Shifted in abruptly at the 100m and had to be straightened by its rider. ARTHUR PORRIT – Began awkwardly. NINE CIGARS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. GALLOPINAKIS – Slow to begin. Blundered for a number of strides near the 400m and broke down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have broken down in the near shoulder and as a result had to be euthanased on humane grounds. Post-mortem samples were taken from the gelding. MACMISSILE – Began awkwardly.
