QRIC Stewards Report NANANGO RACE CLUB: 1st August 2020Weather: Fine Track: Good 3 Rail: TrueStewards: K Daly (Chairman), C FedrickStarter: K Dennien Clerk of Scales: B Webb Judge: P Chilton, C WeidemannVeterinarian: Dr H Perrett General: Race 1: CLASS B HDCP 800 Metres CHEESIE – raced three-wide without cover throughout. BOLD ADMIRAL – raced four-wide without cover before obtaining a position closer to the rail near the 500 metres. ROCKSHORE – shortly after the start momentarily raced in restricted room when ROOTS’N”ROCKS shifted in. ROOTS’N’ROCKS – bumped at the start and then laid in for short distance despite the efforts of its rider. COFFEE COMING – jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with INFINITE ADVANTAGE. INFINITE ADVANTAGE – bumped at the start. ADAYONDECK – Stewards accepted trainer B Loakes explanation for the late declaration of rider on the mare. Mr Loakes advised stewards that whilst App Rabjones would carry the whip he would be instructing her not to apply it during the race as ADAYONDECK does not respond when ridden in that manner. AMENDOLA – raced four-wide without cover throughout CRAIGLEA COURTNEY – rider K Gates reported that after being tightened shortly after the start, the filly raced greenly for some distance until approaching the home-turn. Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres FURY OF THE STORM – taken wider rounding the home-turn when CITY DIVA laid out. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. BELLABERRY – began awkwardly. BRIGALOW QUEEN – jumped out at the start bumping MAGIC WISHES. KITTY KAT’S KITTEN – bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. MAGIC WISHES – bumped at the start. TENNESSEE NIKKA – taken wider rounding the home-turn when CITY DIVA laid out. CITY DIVA – permission was granted for rider G Geran to ride the filly, which was weighted on the minimum, 0.5kg over its allocated weight. After being loaded into the barriers broke through, was quickly restrained, then cleared by the Club Veterinary surgeon before being re-loaded into the barriers. Jumped in at the start making heavy contact with KITTY KAT’S KITTEN. CAMPUS BELL – after being slow to begin was unable to muster speed in the early stages despite the efforts of its rider. Race 3: OPEN HDCP 1000 Metres The start was delayed when MAKE AMENDS needed to be re-saddled on arrival at the barriers. HARD STRIDE – raced three-wide without cover throughout. MAKE AMENDS – slow to begin. Race 4: OPEN PLATE 1200 Metres HIDDEN BUDGET – when asked to comment on tactics adopted app T Wheeler stated instructions were to obtain a forward position however despite his efforts HIDDEN BUDGET settled in a midfield position as a result of the fast early speed shown in the event. He added when attempting to improve into the race leaving the 500 metres he became awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring BEAU TIRAGE resulting in HIDDEN BUDGET being held up from that point until obtaining clear running near the 200 metres. Stewards noted the explanation of App Wheeler. BEAU TIRAGE – over-raced for a short distance near the 900 metres when being restrained to obtain cover. CRAFTY AQUILA – raced three-wide without cover throughout. THE LAST SEQUALO – inclined to layout at various stages of the event and made the home-turn awkwardly and shifted wider on the track. PATRICK’S ME MATE – slow to begin. TEDDER EXPRESS – slow to begin when its barrier was marginally slow to open. The barriers were successfully tested prior to the running of race 5. Race 5: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1600 Metres GAMBIT – raced four-wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward and obtaining the lead near the 1100 metres. GRATSIE – approaching the finish line rider S Lacy momentarily lost use of her near side rein resulting in her becoming unbalanced for a short distance. CRAIGLEA SIMMO – slow to begin. LIFE BE IN IT – slow to begin. TELLOFF – prior to the event connections advised it would be their intention for the mare to be ridden less forward with cover if circumstances permit. A public announcement was made to this effect. Settled in a mid-field position with cover. Made heavy contact on its off hind quarters with the enclosure gate when moving onto the track. On arrival at the barriers was examined the club Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. GARTMORN – had to steadied away from the heels of DÉCOR DEELS near the 800 metres. SERAMASA – when asked to comment on the disappointing performance rider L McCoy stated the gelding travelled fairly to the 600 metres but when placed under pressure failed to respond to her riding from that point and was disappointing. Trainer N O’Toole advised it was now his intention to retire SERAMASA however was advised if circumstances were to change the gelding must trial before its next race start. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
