Race 4: NANANGO RSL/PEDERSON MEMORIAL BURNETT TO THE VALLEY BENCHMARK 60 H’Cap 1200m Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards reviewed the start of the race to determine if the start of the event had been effected correctly and further as to whether WILD ELEMENT (R Faehr) had gained an unfair advantage on jumping away. After taking evidence from the Starter Mr K Dennien and jockeys H Richardson (RUN PAM RUN), R Faehr (WILD ELEMENT), K Gates (DUKATTI), H Phillips (TURBO TEDDY), App T Townsend (CYCLONE KAYCEE), App S Stephan (QUEENOFMAINSTREET). As well as reviewing the race footage, Stewards found that just prior to the start being affected, WILD ELEMENT (R Faehr) lunged forward forcing its barrier open slightly ahead of the remainder of the field. As a result of this Jockey R Faehr restrained WILD ELEMENT after becoming unbalanced and as a result the gelding lost ground at the start despite its barrier opening slightly ahead of the remainder of the field. As Stewards were satisfied that the start had been effected by the Starter Mr K Dennien and further that WILD ELEMENT (R Faehr) had not gained an unfair advantage at the start they ruled that the provisions of AR204(2) not apply on this occasion and Correct Weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. RUN PAM RUN – Raced wide throughout WILD ELEMENTS – Lunged forward and made contact with the barriers and as a result became unbalanced and was momentarily steadied.
