GENERAL
 
As apprentice J McGrath was unable to attend the meeting due to illness, Stewards permitted changes as per raceday summary. Apprentice McGrath was advised a medical would need to be produced prior to her next engagements.
 
Stewards on arrival on course upgraded the track to a Firm 2.
 
Race 1: NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION/J A LEE MEMORIAL BM50 HCP – 1000M
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Slow to begin. Apprentice Teh stated that after being slow to begin her mount failed to muster early speed and only travelled fairly throughout. Trainer K Afford undertook to report back to Stewards on the condition of LOVE YA BLUE in the days subsequent.
 
MY CERTAIN - Raced wide throughout.
 
THE CARPENTER – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHEESIE – Shifted in on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey K Yoshida stated that his mount travelled well throughout the event, however when he placed CHEESIE under pressure the mare failed to respond and as a result, he elected not to place her under any more pressure. He added that CHEESIE, which was racing first up today, would derive benefit from the run.
 
MISS CRUISEY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: STAR MOTEL NANANGO BM60 HCP – 1200M
 
WALSHIE – Apprentice S Stephan reported that her mount failed to handle the 65kg today and added that the extra weight WALSHIE had to carry in lead was detrimental to its chances.
 
THE RAGING PRINCE – Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 400m was pulled up by its jockey K Gates after suffering a catastrophic injury to both hind legs and was humanely euthanised. Jockey K Gates was examined by QAS officials and cleared to fulfill her remaining riding engagements, however due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, K Gates requested to be replaced on her rides and changes were permitted as per raceday summary.
 
Race 3: COL RYAN MEMORIAL QTIS MDN PLT – 1200M
 
KINGSFORD TIGER – Bumped on jumping.
 
ROCK EASY – Raced wide in the middle and latter stages.
 
ALL IN SYNC – Steadied when tightened near the 1100m.
 
ARCEAGLE – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
 
COUNTY LOVE – Bumped on jumping.
 
KAKATIYA – As K Gates was unable to fulfill her engagement and no senior was available to replace her, apprentice O Webb was permitted to replace her as the rider and claim only two of her three kilo claim. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MONICA ROOM – Steadied when tightened near the 1100m.
 
SHE MEANS BUSINESS – Steadied near the 800m when awkwardly placed on heels of COUNTY LOVE.
 
Race 4: P C A SOCIAL CLUB BM45 HCP – 1200M
 
OPEN ROAD – Slow to begin and muster speed.
 
MODERN FAMILY – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR BOY BORRIS – Jockey H Phillips reported that her mount raced like a tired horse and may not have handled the firm track conditions today.
 
THE OLD BIRD (NZ) – Steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of BLOODBLISTER near the 600m.
 
QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Declared a late scratching at 2.30pm after Trainer D Reynolds experienced transport difficulties en route to the course. No deductions were applicable as betting had not yet commenced.
 
MORNING FARE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in the past twelve months was cleared to start.
 
MOMENTUM GLORY – Steadied over the concluding stages when BLOODBLISTER shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey R Payne was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 5: CHEERS XXXX NANANGO CUP OPEN HCP – 1600M
 
CHAMBERLAIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
GAMBIT – Blundered on jumping. Steadied near the 1400m when SUGAR BUZZ shifted in. Jockey B Andrew (SUGAR BUZZ) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Tailed the field throughout and finished a distance last. Jockey H Phillips stated that GAMBIT never recovered from blundering on jumping and added the gelding was inclined to overrace after being forced to race in the tail end of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in both front legs. Trainer B Phillips was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.
 
Race 6: HERITAGE BANK NANAGO CLASS B HCP – 1600M
 
FOXY ROSE – Inconvenienced several times in the early stages by SCARAB who hung out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
PUNCTUALITY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
CRAIGLEA KARLY – Slow to begin and muster speed. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
 
OURLASTPENNY – Overraced throughout the event. Apprentice S Stephan reported that she wasn’t able to get OURLASTPENNY to settle during the event and her mount may not have appreciated the firm track conditions today.
 
SCARAB – Hung out throughout the event placing its rider apprentice Z Sprie at a severe disadvantage. Trainer G Sitek was advised that SCARAB must officially barrier trial prior to its next start.
