QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT NANANGO RACE CLUB SATURDAY 10th September 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Heavy 9, Heavy 8 after Race 2 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman: K DalyStewards: C FedrickClerk of Scales: B WebbJudge: P ChiltonVeterinarian: Dr K WebbStarter: K Dennien GeneralAs N Summers was not riding at the meeting, Stewards approved riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet. Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:Race 1: FINE TABOUR – S McGovern 56kg (+1kg) Race 1 - Class B Handicap (800 METRES) SUNIKI – Raced wide throughout. PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – Raced wide throughout. FRIDAY’S JET – Raced wide throughout. ZORRO’S GHOST – Raced wide throughout. ANNIE’S TOP – Slow to begin, then unable to muster speed in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance rider M Cox reported ANNIE’S TOP appeared to resent racing to the inside of other runners and may not have appreciated today’s prevailing track conditions. Trainers’ representative for B Butts advised ANNIE’S TOP would now be sent for an immediate spell. Acting on this undertaking no direct action was taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. FUMBLEROOSKI – Held up rounding the home turn and then steadied when racing in restricted to the inside of PETA CALADA between the 200m and 100m. CONTINUIM – Rider K Gates dropped her whip near the 100m. Race 2 - QTIS Class 3 Plate (1000 METRES) EASY COME – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider S Stephan dropped her whip near the 100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STORMTROOPER – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. RURAL REBEL – Bumped at the start. MISSILE MAGIC – Jumped out at the start and bumped heavily with RURAL REBEL. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8. Race 3 - Maiden Plate (1200 METRES) On arrival behind the barriers FIABLE ROSE dislodged rider S Stephan galloped a short distance, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider S Stephan was cleared by QAS staff to fulfill her engagement. After being loaded into the barriers, JENESSA became fractious, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination, and was declared a late scratching at 2:53pm after sustaining cuts to the near foreleg. FIABLE ROSE, which was unable to be safely re-saddled behind the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 3:01pm. LOCK AND LAUNCH, which became fractious after being loaded into the barriers was removed and declared a late scratching at 3:07pm on veterinary advice after sustaining abrasions to the off-hind hock. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on JENESSA, FIABLE ROSE and LOCH AND LAUNCH refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: Winning bets prior to 2:53pm (JENESSA) – 38c win, 31c place, Winning bets between 2:53pm & 3:01pm (FIABLE ROSE) – 16c win, 15c place Winning bets between 3:01pm and 3:07pm (LOCK AND LAUNCH) - 13c win, 12c place Trainer M Currie’s representative was advised JENESSA would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.Trainer M Faulkner was advised LOCK AND LAUNCH would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. The start was further delayed when MAX’N’MAT proved difficult to load. Bearing in mind the significant delay due to three late scratchings at the barrier, no action was taken against the horse. As a result of these delays Race 3 was run approximately 22 minutes late. MAX’N’MAT – Delayed start after proving difficult to load. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MICKARBY – Trainer T Thomas was reprimanded under LR67 for failing to declare a rider on MICKARBY by the prescribed time. Made the home turn awkwardly. PALENTIFUL – Held up for clear running between the 300m and the entrance to the home straight. THE MONEY SPENDER – Unable to muster speed in the early and middle stages of the event. SADDLE STITCH – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. SINGLE CHARGE – Laid out rounding home turn. NORTHERN WATER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4 - OPEN Handicap (1200 METRES) DIGGITY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to showing signs of dehydration. EXCEED ROCK – Beau Appo, rider of EXCEED ROCK, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. OAKFIELD COMANCHE – Slow to begin. I French, rider of OAKFIELD COMMANCHE, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. Race 5 - Class B Handicap (1600 METRES) HAIRY LOVER – Near the 150m raced greenly when struck with the whip. CHIANTARI – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. DESERT SANDS – Slow to begin. KURABENII – Slow to begin. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment rider M Cox could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers’ representative for B Butts was advised a warning would be placed on KURABENII for its poor performance. THE ANGELS KISS – Hung in under pressure in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested by its rider from the 150m. QUARTER PAST – Checked at the start and lost ground. DIXIELAND – Jumped in at the start and checked QUARTER PAST.
