GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following jockeys to ride overweight: Race 6 - Chris Taylor 1kg over at 56kg.
 
As jockeys Les Tilly and Nathan Evens were unable to fulfill their riding engagements due to injury changes were made as per the raceday summary.
 
Race 1: LEISA'S FITNESS BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200 metres
 
INTO CHAMPAGNE – Lost both front plates in running.
 
AMISFIELD – Slow to begin and lost ground. When asked to comment on the geldings performance jockey Paul Hamblin reported that AMISFIELD after being slow to muster pace from the barriers in the early stages was held up for clear running in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
KABALEGA – Bumped at the start by TRUE TALLY. Shifted wide on the home turn to secure clear running. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

DAULAT ULTI MAIORA – Over raced early and middle stages, hung in at the 1000m before being corrected by its rider jockey C Eaton. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied off heels when over racing. Held up for clear running in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested by its rider.

TRUE TALLY – Jumped awkward and bumped KABALEGA.
 
OUTGOING – Raced wide throughout.
 
MORE LIKE THAT – Momentarily raced in restricted room and had to be steadied approaching the 400m.
 
Race 2: 2 THE NANANGO 175TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BEEOKAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PERSIAN FRONT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CRAIGLEA ETNA – Slow to muster speed from the barriers. Over the concluding stages shifted out causing its rider jockey M Powell to stop riding to straighten the filly and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
HEEBEE RIGHT MATE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. On returning to scale jockey C Taylor reported in his opinion his mount HEEBEE RIGHT MATE found todays firm track conditions unsuitable and in his opinion his mount may have choked down during the event which may have had a bearing on the geldings performance.
 
MOVE BEYOND – Raced wide throughout.
 
KOHIKO – Held up when entering the home straight and shifted in at the 100m to secure clear running.
 
DAWN COLOURS – Shifted out to a wide position on the home turn. As jockey L Tilley was unable to ride the mare due to being injured he was replaced by jockey C Eaton.
 
GHETTO – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROCKET RYAN – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Race 3: HAPPY 70TH PETER CROWLEY Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
MUSSEL LINES – Bumped at the start causing apprentice jockey Corey Sutherland to loose his near side iron placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance. Shifted wide on the home turn.
 
OLD MAN PAT – Hung in when tiring in the home straight.
 
SOMBANI - Declared a late scratching at 1:44pm. SOMBANI was presented to the mounting yard by trainer Mr V heading wearing incorrect gear. Mr Heading was advised by stewards that the gear SOMBANI was wearing at the time would need to be changed. Mr Heading refused to change the gear to match the official Gear Change Sheet used when checking all runners in to the saddling enclosure before a race. Mr Heading elected to scratch the horse from the event and the late scratching was accepted by the stewards. On declaration of correct weight all monies invested on SOMBANI were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters :
                       1st   FLAMIN` READY – Win 1c Place 1c
                       2nd  BAILEY BOO – Place 1c
                       3rd   VICTORY LIGHTS – 1c

VICTORY LIGHTS – At the 100m was disappointed for a run inside BAILEY BOO and had to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
FLAMIN' READY – Jumped awkwardly and bumped MUSSEL LINES.
 
HOPE IS GOOD – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the mares performance jockey N Thomas commented in his opinion HOPE IS GOOD was reluctant to stretch out on todays firm racing surface and would be better suited on a softer track.

THE MONEY SPENDER – C Eaton – On arriving to the barriers underwent a pre-race vet examination which revealed the gelding to have no abnormalities and was cleared to start. C Eaton reported that her mount stumbled on pulling up and as a result wrenched her right shoulder and as a result was experiencing some discomfort. C Eaton was observed by QAS personnel and cleared to take her remaining rides.
 
Race 4: NANANGO RSL / MARGARET & GARRY BANKS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 800 metres
 
ALBION SQUARE – Returning to scale apprentice C Sutherland reported that his mount ALBION SQUARE laid out throughout the event.

VICEMAN – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
MAXIMUM ALTITUDE – Raced wide throughout.

EVELYN SALT – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied when momentarily racing in restricted room. Held up rounding the home turn and had to shift out to secure clear running.
 
SHOCKING FORCE – Jockey K. Yoshida reported his mount was inclined to lay out during the event.
 
PENNY STOCKS – Rounding the home turn shifted out causing its rider to become unbalanced and partially lose his offside iron. Passing the 100m lost his offside iron placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

RAINBOW DREAMS – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start raced in restricted room and had to be steadied.

THE STORM – Raced wide.
 
INVANESS – Slow to begin. Passing the 180m mark was disappointed for a run inside VICEMAN which shifted in slightly. Had to be steadied and was unable to be fully tested to the line.

CAMAROSA – Declared a late scratching at 7:45am. Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer R Hay regarding the late scratching of the gelding.

Race 5: BECHLYS TRANSPORT QTIS Class 3 Plate 1000 metres

 
STEP ON FIRE – STEP ON FIRE (Apprentice C Sutherland) was inconvenienced approaching the 900m and placed in restricted room when bumped by CITY CHICK (N Vuille) which shifted in and away from BETTER THAN ROSES (L McCoy) which was coming across from a wider barrier and hanging in despite the efforts of it`s rider. Passing the 800m STEP ON FIRE had to be checked and shift out to avoid the heels of FLANK SPEED ( Apprentice L Sykes) which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BETTER THAN ROSES which shifted in.

 
BETTER THAN ROSES - Jockey L McCoy reported that her mount BETTER THEN ROSES hung in throughout the event. Trainer M Curry was advised that BETTER THAN ROSES will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again. Trainer M Curry advised Stewards that the mare will be sent for a spell.
 
CITY CHICK – Forced wide entering the home straight when MAHBABY shifted out to obtain clear running. Had to be checked when placed in restricted room when BETTER THAN ROSES (L McCOY) shifted in at an acute angle approaching the 900m. CITY CHICK (N Vuille) bumped STEP ON FIRE (Apprentice C Sutherland) which was racing to the mares inside. STEP ON FIRE then bumped the hind quarters of FLANK SPEED (Apprentice L Sykes) which became unbalanced. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident Stewards took evidence from the riders involved and viewed the available patrol footage. Stewards determined that jockey L McCoy had made sufficient effort to try and stop her mount from shifting in and no further action was taken.
 

MAHBABY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out at the 250m to obtain clear running.

FLANK SPEED – Bumped on the hind quarters by STEP ON FIRE and became unbalanced approaching the 900m. Had to be steadied off the heels of BETTER THAN ROSESpassing the 800m. Forced wide entering the home straight when MAHBABY shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
 
NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Approaching the 300m had to be steadied off the heels of BETTER THAN ROSES (L McCOY) which shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry in to the incident Stewards took evidence from jockey H Phillips rider of NO BETTER AFFAIR and jockey L McCoy and viewed the available patrol footage. Stewards determined that jockey L McCoy had made sufficient effort to try and stop her mount from shifting in and no further action was taken.
 
 RUN THE CUTTER – Forced wide entering the home straight when MAHBABY shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
 RED GADGET – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: 6 HERITAGE BANK 2023 BATTLE OF THE BUSH NANANGO QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
COAT OF ARMS – As jockey L Tilley was unable to ride the gelding due to being injured he was replaced by jockey K Yoshida. On arriving to the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
HARD LANDING – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

KAPPY CINO – Approaching the 100m improved on to the heels of DIGGITY and was disappointed for a run. Had to be steadied by jockey C Eaton and was unable to be fully tested for the remainder of the race.
 
ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW – Shifted out on the home turn to secure clear running.

DALTORO – As jockey N Evens was unable to ride the gelding due to being injured he was replaced by jockey S Apthorpe.
 
RAMTASTIC – Declared a late scratching at 11.26am after the gelding became fractious in the truck on route to the Nanango racecourse.
 
TA CHANSON – Changed legs and became unbalanced for a few strides passing the 250m mark.
 
MR BROSE – Raced wide throughout.

THE CARPENTER – Shifted wide on the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 7: NANANGO CARAVAN SERVICE & REPAIRS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1600 metres
 
ROYAL PERFORMANCE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Leaving the 200m shifted in to secure clear running.

DINNY'S A SUSPECT – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT – CRAIGLEA BANDIT was declared a late scratching at 4.27pm when apprentice S Blunt was unable to restrain the gelding in the preliminary warm up. CRAIGLEA BANDIT bolted for three laps of the course before being brought under control. Subsequently CRAIGLEA BANDIT was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice. Apprentice S Blunt was examined by QAS personnel on course and apart from showing signs of exhaustion was otherwise uninjured.On declaration of correct weight all monies invested on CRAIGLEA BANDIT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters :
