SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Bundaberg 29th July 2023
Race 3 Apprentice S. Willis (DAUNTING WARRIOR) was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four more than permitted.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following jockeys to ride overweight:
Race 7: N Fazackerley - 56.5kg
              D Smith – 56kg
Race 8: D Smith – 56kg

As Apprentice jockey M Goring was ill and unable to attend today`s meeting and Apprentice C Sutherland was unable to fulfill his remaining engagements after being injured in race 4, changes were made as per the race day summary.
 
 
RACE 1: COL RYAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
BEEOKAY – Bumped on jumping.
 
BRIGHT DAISY – Slow to begin.
 
JUST SO FANCY (NZ) – As Apprentice M Goring was unable to ride at today`s meeting he was replaced by Apprentice S Blunt. The start of this event was delayed owing to JUST SO FANCY becoming fractious in the barriers and having to undergo a pre-race veterinary examination, before being passed suitable to race. Trainer J Johnston was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
OUTBACK PLAYBOY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Taken wider on the home turn when ALL DASH hung out.
 
PRIDEOFUSALL – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied passing the 800m when racing in restricted room between EAGLE EYE STAR and RHAPALONG.
 
ALL DASH – Hung out on the home turn.
 
EAGLE EYE STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
RED GADGET – Bumped on jumping and lost ground when EAGLE EYE STAR began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 2: MCDONALDS KINGAROY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 metres
 
DEAD MAN'S HAND – Began awkwardly and bumped BERAKAHQUINN.
 
TRUTH OR DARE – Bumped on jumping.
 
BERAKAHQUINN – Bumped on jumping. Held up for a short distance approaching the home turn.
 
BOITUMELO – Began awkwardly.
 
RED SHIRAZ – Began awkwardly and bumped TRUTH OR DARE.
 
SHE'S MY DAISY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SUGARPUSH- Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: LEON 'PANDA' GREEN MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 metres
 
FIREBIRD TWO – As Apprentice M Goring was unable to ride at today`s meeting he was replaced by Apprentice B Moffat. Declared a late scratching at 1.37pm when the gelding refused to load into the barriers. Trainer G Richardson was advised FIREBIRD TWO will require a further barrier certificate before racing again.On the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on FIREBIRD TWO were ordered to be refunded and deductions were ordered on all successful bets of 19c the win and 14c the place.
 
MONT ROYAL – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
BETTER BELIEVE IT – Inconvenienced on jumping between MORE LIKE THAT and MONT ROYAL. Lost ground and was slow to muster speed.
 
MORE LIKE THAT – Began awkwardly.
 
STEP LIVELY - When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice A Donald reported that although the mare travelled well throughout the race, STEP LIVELY was somewhat disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice A Donald reported that in her opinion STEP LIVELY will be more suited in a race further in distance.
 
Race 4: NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION J. A. LEE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP
MR VISTA – As Apprentice M Goring was unable to ride at today`s meeting he was replaced by Apprentice B Moffat.  Declared a late scratching at 12.46pm at the request of Trainer W Bannerot due to today`s firm track conditions.
 
TA CHANSON – Raced wide throughout.
 
BARCLAY'S BANK – Slow to begin.
 
OTELO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Approaching the 600m mark suffered a suspected internal bleed and was pronounced to be deceased by the veterinarian. Apprentice Jockey C Sutherland received a minor hand injury in the incident. Apprentice Sutherland was examined by the on course QAS Officers and was declared unfit to fulfill his remaining riding engagements.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Slow to begin.
 
STRYKING PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: FTA ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200 metres
MOUNTBATTEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TRUE TALLY – Passing the 800m was obliged to shift wider on the track when EMIRATE PRIDE shifted out.
 
BOBBYBOUCHE – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
 EMIRATE PRIDE – Over raced in the early stages. Passing the 800m shifted out to avoid the heels of CUDDLES forcing TRUE TALLY wider on the track. Rider Apprentice Jockey S Blunt was advised of her obligations when shifting ground.
 RASHEED – As Apprentice C Sutherland was unable to fulfill his riding engagement on RASHEED due to injury and there was no other Apprentice jockey available to take the ride, Stewards allowed Jockey N Thomas to ride the gelding.
 
Race 6: FITZROY HOTEL BM45 HANDICAP 1200 metres
ROAD TO EMMUAS – As Apprentice C Sutherland was unable to fulfill his riding engagement on ROAD TO EMMUAS due to injury, he was replaced by Apprentice Jockey B Moffat.
 
ZABCAN – Jockey P Hamblin, rider of ZABCAN was charged pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip on six occasions priorto the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
BLOODBLISTER – Underwent a resaddle at the barriers before the start of the event. Apprentice T Noble reported at scale that her saddle shifted approaching the 450m placing her at a disadvantage.
 
DIVENIRE – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
Race 7: FITZROY HOTEL XXXX CHEERS NANANGO CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 metres
MILL ROSSA – Held up from the 400m until approaching the home turn.
 
KAPPY CINO – Approaching the 1400m, momentarily tightened for room and had to be steadied from heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
GENTLE PRINCE – As Apprentice C Sutherland was unable to fulfill his riding engagement on GENTLE PRINCE due to injury, he was replaced by Apprentice Jockey S Willis. Raced wide throughout.
 
VIVENZO – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BOOM GATE – Began awkwardly.
 
BATTLE - Began awkwardly.
 
Race 8: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO CLASS B HANDICAP 1600 metres
 
TYCOON ILLUSION – Start was delayed to allow the crossover noseband to be adjusted on the gelding.
 
LIGHT'S VISION – Tightened for room over the concluding stages when CRAIGLEA KARLY shifted in and CANNY BOY Shifted out under pressure.
 
CRAIGLEA KARLY – Shifted in under pressure over the last 200m. Jockey H Phillips was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) in that she used her whip on 15 times in totality. One more than permitted.
 
CANNY BOY – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
