GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
 
Race 1 – URBAN JEWEL – M. Powell +1kg (56kg)
Race 4 – CHARGED – C. Meehan +1kg (56kg)
 
Prior to the running of race 1, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 1: HEARTFELT CEREMONIES WITH SIMONE Class B Handicap 800M
 
CRUISING BILL – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
JATOBI – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
FRIDAY’S JET – Shifted out at the start and bumped CRUISING BILL. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DOUBLE COCO – Stewards permitted Apprentice S. Blunt to claim 1.5kg of her 2.5kg allowance that she was required to claim for this race. Apprentice S. Blunt was subsequently fined $100 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance.
 
LOUD ATTRACTION – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
GOLDEN GROOVE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being kicked behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
MUSSEL LINES – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT OF LUCK – Jockey C. Meehan dropped his whip near the 150m.
 
LAST LAUGH – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer K. Afford stated that at Gladstone on the 12/08/2023, the mare suffered interference in the home straight and at its previous start at Kilcoy on the 26/08/2023, the mare was caught wide throughout, which Mr Afford believes were detrimental to LAST LAUGH’S overall performance at its last two starts. Mr Afford added that the mare was down in class, and he was expecting a forward showing in today’s event. Stewards noted his comments.
 
DASHES OF COLOUR – Fractious prior to the start being effected.
 
URBAN JEWEL – Shifted out at the start and bumped JATOBI. Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: DEB FRECKLINGTON MP QTIS Class 3 Plate 1000M
 
JAMESATELLI – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MAXIMUM ALTITUDE – Shifted out at the start and bumped MY GIRL SKY.
 
NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
THREE STRIPES – Failed to muster early speed.
 
TWISTED SISTER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ZENIA. Jockey L. Tilley reported that in his opinion, his mount didn’t travel comfortably throughout. Trainer P. Webster advised Stewards that he would report back in the coming days any condition which may come to light regarding today’s performance, adding that he would be discussing the horses immediate racing future with connections.
 
ZENIA – Bumped at the start.
 
ASHERLA – Raced wide throughout.
 
MY GIRL SKY – Bumped at the start. Near the 900m, was tightened for room and had to check when YES NO MAYBE SO laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
HERO’S TRINKET – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
YES NO MAYBE SO – Near the 900m, laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Inclined to lay in rounding the home turn.
 
Race 3: B L CUSTOM SIGNS Maiden Plate 1200M
 
DUSTYIAM – Slow to begin. Leaving the 200m, was obliged to shift inwards to obtain clear running.
 
FREE CHOICE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KINGDOM REIGN – Shifted out at the start and bumped I SURVIVED.
 
SHADES OF LOUVRE – Apprentice S. Willis reported that her mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event.
 
I SURVIVED – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped KINGDOM REIGN.
 
THE DEVASTATOR – Near the 1000m, was momentarily steadied from the heels of ROSE ALICE which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey H. Phillips the rider of ROSE ALICE was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 4: FREE ADMISSION DAY THANK YOU PATRONS OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
HARD LANDING – Apprentice S. Willis reported that in her opinion the gelding raced flat in today’s event.
 
KUZCO LAD – Near the 100m, was obliged to alter course to avoid the heels OAKFIELD COMANCHE which shifted in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey H. Phillips the rider of OAKFIELD COMANCHE was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
OAKFIELD COMANCHE – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BULLETIN – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
CHARGED – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 900m.
 
ALL DASH – Jockey K. Gates had trouble restraining ALL DASH on route to the barriers. Subsequently, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Trainer G. Hayes was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Shifted out at the start and bumped BULLETIN. Raced keenly in the early stages. Weakened from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of heat stress. Trainer G. Hayes was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
Race 5: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1600M
 
AMBER ONE – Slow to begin. Near the 200m, Apprentice B. Moffat dropped his offside rein and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
READYENTIME – Slow to begin.
 
AURORA DANCER – Weakened from the 500m. Apprentice M. Kennedy reported that in her opinion her mount didn’t appreciate the step up in distance to 1600m.
 
WHISTLE HOFF – Slow to begin.
 
RINGO’S MAGIC –Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
