QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT NOORAMA RACE CLUB SATURDAY 1ST APRIL 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING DIRT RAIL TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T Preston Stewards – W Glass Clerk of Scales –Stewards Judge – W Grimwade, B Dunsdon, W Miller. Veterinarian – Dr S Meara, Dr H Gargery Starter – J Harvey Photo finish Operator- T Cantlay. GENERAL The following amended start times for today’s program - Race 1- 1.30pm, Race 2- 2.10pm, Race 3- 2.50pm, Race 4- 3.40pm and Race 5- 4.20pm. Race 1: MIRAGE LAND AND WATER BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 800M PHYLAVE- Shortly after the start the rider had to take hold when the gelding threw its head about when leaving the barriers. GAZZMAN- Trainer W Pugsley was advised by Stewards that a Warning would be placed on his horse for its pre-race manners after dislodging Appr A Graham on route to the barriers and then was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Shortly after the start the gelding appeared to resent the rider taking hold and threw its head in the air at that point. Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. KING CONI- Raced wide from the 600m point and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event. ONLY EMMA- Began awkwardly. NO NAY EMERALD- Began awkwardly. Race 2: ELDERS QTIS Maiden Plate 1000M DABILDOYA- Began awkwardly. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority. Stewards spoke with Jky S Galvin who advised that the horse was not suited by the racing conditions today, despite the rider’s best efforts the horse failed to improve into the race. Trainer G Bignell could offer no excuses for the geldings disappointing performance. Stewards ordered a post -race vet examination which failed to detect any abnormalities. KALMIA- Began awkwardly. OUTBACK STEP- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 3: GRIMWADE AND GORDON BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200M LENROY- Leaving the 600m when outside of LASCO, had to ease momentarily and lost ground as that horse rolled out at that point. LASCO- Leaving the 600m point rolled out marginally before being corrected by the rider. THE SABBATH- Leaving the 600m attempted a run to the inside of LASCO as it rolled out slightly. Jky I French then had to take hold and subsequently lost ground at that point. Stewards inquired into the incident and due to not having any quality footage of the incident Stewards were unable to proceed with any further action. However, Stewards were of the opinion that there was not sufficient room for the rider of THE SABBATH to take the run and advised him to exercise more care in the future. MOTILDA- Led for some distance and began to weaken from the 400m point and raced at the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. ordered that a post- race veterinary examination be undertaken due to the seemingly disappointing performance. This examination failed to detect any abnormalities. Race 4: WATERS & HENRY NOORAMA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200M PASS THE CARD- Blundered shortly after the start. TANGO TINO- The declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Trainer of the 2nd Placed horse Mr W Pugsley an opportunity to examine the photo finish footage. He later advised he was satisfied with the Judges placings and Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges. VINAIGRETTE- Raced wide for the majority of the event. ROYAL SHEEN- Began awkwardly. FINESSE TESS- Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(7)9a)(ii) reprimanded Appr Jky T Leslight for his use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 5: WESTERN MEAT EXPORTERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M FROZE- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Leaving the 200m point shifted in when under pressure. Acting under the provision of AR131(a) Stewards advised Appr Jky T Leslight to exercise more can when he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of the weakening GATEWAYS. GATEWAYS- Was tightened for room marginally approaching the 200m and began to weaken just prior to that point.
