PENTLAND RACE CLUB - SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBER 2015

WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION

General:
Due to the extreme heat all races were run at shorter intervals in an attempt to alleviate the amount of time horses spent in the tie-ups.

Riding Changes:
When jockey M Abe was injured following a fall in race 1, Stewards permitted the following changes as per the Steward’s summary;

Race 1: Hi-Way/Trucks Flyer Class 3 Plate 800 Metres.
1st – SHADOWS OF SIN 2nd – ANZUS 3rd – FLAMINGO ROSE 4th – GUSTO

SPLASH OUT – Passing the 500m commenced to race ungenerously due to the kickback, resulting in jockey M Abe becoming unbalanced and ultimately being dislodged. Jockey M Abe was transported to Townsville hospital with a suspected broken left leg.

Race 2: Tropic Dist./Brodie Agency QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 Metres.
1st – DREAMWARD BOUND 2nd – FIRST PAIGE 3rd – MOLONGLE HERO 4th – WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

WIDGEE LAD – Was a late withdrawal at 1.53pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Subsequently when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on WIDGEE LAD be refunded in full and all other successful bets placed on the race prior to 1.53pm be subject to the following deductions of 3c win and 3c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr R Finch was told that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

ENVIOUS EYES – Began awkwardly.

POWER UP – Passing the 500m was reluctant to stretch out due to the kick back.

RIVER RISING – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Landmark Class B Handicap 1000 Metres.
1st – ZOE BAY 2nd – TOP DECISION 3rd – BLUE DANUBE 4th – LOG CABIN

FLIGHT RULER - When no other rider was available stewards permitted jockey S McGovern to ride the gelding 1/2kg over its declared weight.

ZOE BAY – When no other rider was available stewards permitted jockey D Ballard to replace jockey M Abe (injured) 2.5kg over its declared weight.

JUST POLITIC – Was crowded shortly after the start and had to be checked.

RIALTO GUY – Was slow to begin.

FLIGHT RULER – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

TOP DECISION – Passing the 100m jockey P Cullen accidentally dropped his whip.

Race 4: Pentland Progress Assoc. Memorial Benchmark 70 Handicap 1200 Metres.
1st – RHYTHM ‘N’ RAP 2nd – FIVE O’CLOCK 3rd – DEL PALIO 4th – TAP IN BIRDIE

ZATSACAT – Was a late withdrawal at 7.47am when no rider was available.

THE BEST – Was a late withdrawal at 1.30pm after jockey M Abe was injured in race 1 and no other suitable rider was available.

MOLONGLE DREAM – On return to scale jockey J Felix reported that in his opinion the mare may have jarred up on the firm track. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 5: Coleman Stockfeed Pentland Cup Class 4 Handicap 1600 Metres.
1st – MADAME GINOUX 2nd – ROSE IN BLOOM 3rd – ARLINGTON PARK 4th – SHOW US A SMILE

ROMANTICIZE – Raced wide throughout.

ARLINGTON PARK – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it be lame in the near foreleg with swelling in the fetlock. Trainer Mr T Butts was told that prior to racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.
