Race 1: RISING SUN HONDA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m
 
HAMMERTONE- As no other suitable rider was available Jockey D Ballard was permitted to ride the gelding 1.5kg over its allocated weight. Trainer J Barr was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR232. Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
HOLOGRAM- Fractious in the barrier.
 
NIGHT ATTIRE- Tightened between runners on jumping and blundered.
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
ALOTAFOX- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
ARCING HARD- Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with another runner before blundering. Performed below market expectations. Jockey J Babarovich advised that after being hampered on jumping assumed a rearward position and resented the kickback from that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
COME ALIVE- Began awkwardly.
 
TRAVERS- Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 2: COLEMAN STOCK FEED OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
CHARLIE CAT- After viewing the patrol footage of the start it was ascertained that the outside barrier gate had bounced back and struck the gelding in the shoulder on exiting the barrier. As not significant interference had been caused to the gelding no further actions was taken other than remedial work on the barrier gate which was tested afterward and found to be working effectively.
 
BOYER- Slow into stride.
 
SNIPPY STRATEGIC- Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
KAPSET- Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: RABOBANK QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
 
FANDRAL- As no other suitable rider was available Jockey R McMahon was permitted to ride the gelding 3kg over its allocated weight. Trainer G Tipping was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR232. Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
EXPOSED SECRET- Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
FLIRTY MCCOY- Began awkwardly before being slowly into stride. Trailed the field throughout.
 
ZOUNATE- Slow into stride.
 
ARFA CROWN- Raced wide throughout.
 
SIR EAGLE- Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 4: CHARTERS TOWERS TOYOTA MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
On arrival at the barriers CRAZY SUSPECT and JULES RULES underwent pre-race veterinary examinations and were found to be lame in the off hind and near fore legs respectively. Both runners were subsequently declared late scratching’s at 3:52pm with all monies invested on the two runners were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3:52pm were as follows:
 
22 cents in the dollar for the win
20 cents in the dollar for the place
 
Trainer T Parry was advised the CRAZY SUSPECT and JULES RULES would require veterinary certificate’s prior to being permitted to race again.
 
 
SMITHY’S HAMMER- As no other suitable rider was available Jockey R McMahon was permitted to ride the gelding 1kg over its allocate weight.
 
LOVE’S BEST HOPE- After beginning on terms with the field failed the muster the speed required to maintain its position and trailed the field throughout. Hampered by another runner which shifted in when not fully clear near the 200m.
 
NEW YORK POET- Tightened on jumping. After beginning on terms with the field failed the muster the speed required to maintain its position and trailed the field for the majority.
 
DALBERGIA- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
HOPE AS ALWAYS- Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with another runner before shifting in and bumping with a further runner.
 
BRAHMINY- Buffeted between runners on jumping. Shifted in near the 200m when not fully clear of another runner. Jockey J Babarovich was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
MR TYCOON- Hung in for the majority of the event. Passing the 300m the saddle shifted on the gelding placing Jockey A Thomson at a sever disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Trainer S Locke was advised the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
 
Race 5: HASTINGS DEERING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m
 
SOVIET- Slow to begin.
 
GO DIAMONDS- Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
WARRUMBUNGLE- Raced wide throughout.
