Race 1: PRESTON ROWE PATERSON BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000M
 
GAMBOA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BITTERGREYMAGIC – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
BURNT BUTTER – Began only fairly.
 
Race 2: HONEYCOMBES SALES & SERVICES Maiden Plate 1000M
 
FLYING NED – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly.
 
GEORGY THE GREAT – Began awkwardly.
 
JUST STOP IT – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MOGGIE – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
TIANALYSA – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: CHARTERS TOWERS TOYOTA QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200M
 
PHILADELPHIA FREE – Began awkwardly.
 
GOLDEN EIGHTY – Approaching the 600 metres, had to be steadied momentarily after RUSTY ROSE shifted in.
 
TACTICAL ILLUSION – Declared at late scratching at 12:40pm after sustaining an injury while being transported to the meeting.Trainer M. Mcguire was advised that TACTICAL ILLUSION would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
EXTRA FREE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
FAR REACHING – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SIZZLING SAMURAI – Steadied off heels after over-racing for a short distance passing the 700 metres.
 
RUSTY ROSE – Reared as the start was affected.  
 
NELLYATION – Began very awkwardly and lost ground then shifted wider to avoid kickback.
 
MISHANI EAGLE – Declared a late scratching at 11:00am due to being dually accepted. Trainer H. Robertson advised that due to limited phone service she was unable to scratch by the prescribed time. Given the circumstances, no action was taken.
 
Race 4: COLEMAN STOCK FEEDS BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1400M
 
ONTHETAKE – Raced wide in the middle stages.  
 
DENMAN BLUE – Began very awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
GOOD KITTY – Raced wide in the early stages before crossing the field to take up a leading position.
 
SANDHILL – Slow into stride. Passing the 1200 metres commenced to lose ground. Finished a considerable distance behind the field.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a ruptured left fore tendon.  Trainer K. Krogh was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to SANDHILL racing again.
 
REAL EMPRESS – Hampered at the start when HYPOTHESIZE shifted in and lost considerable ground. Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
NOTHIN’ BUT LOOKS – Raced wide throughout.
 
HYPOTHESIZE – Shifted in at the start hampering REAL EMPRESS. Resented the kickback in the middle stages.
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing jockey J. Babarovich, rider of 4th placegetter THE LANDING, to review the photo for 3rd place. After reviewing the photo, correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
Race 5: SOUTHERN GULF NRM BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400M
 
METAL BAR – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
COUNT OF CARFORD – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride as a result.  
 
COLLOMBATTI – Crowded for room passing the 450 metres when PREFERRAL (NZ) shifted in.
 
EYE SHOOT TO WIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PREFERRAL (NZ) – Passing the 450 metres, shifted in crowding the room of COLLOMBATTI. Jockey J. Babarovich was reminded of his obligations to exercise care when shifting ground.
 
MOPAR – Approaching the 400 metres, steadied off the heels of COLLOMBATTI.
