STEWARDS REPORT – FRIDAY 22nd November, 2002

STEWARDS PANEL: P Cooper (Chairman), G Hargraves, G Scott, G Wust, N Vagg
WEATHER – Overcast. TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short Course – out 2m 800-400 metres, true elsewhere. Long Course – True Position.

RACE 1: CLASS 4 H'CAP – ABT 1800 METRES (8 STARTERS)
No incidents in running.

RACE 2: 2YO H'CAP – ABT 1000 METRES (8 STARTERS)
App Dale Evans pleaded guilty to a charge under Local Rule 49 in that he arrived late on course. The Stewards issued a penalty against Apprentice Evans to the sum of $100.
Apprentice Evans also pleaded guilty to a charge under ARR144 in that he failed to weigh in after the running of the event as required to do so. Stewards penalised Apprentice Evans the sum of $50.
As the start was effected TEMPESTES (J Piper) jumped away awkwardly.
KON TIKI ROSE (D Evans) ran off the track at approximately the 650 metre mark.
POKOMO (H Watanabe) layed inwards over the final stages of the event.

RACE 3: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H'CAP - ABT 1100 METRES (14 STARTERS)
FIANDER (G Booth) was a late scratching by order of the Stewards after the horse broke through the front of the barriers and completed a circuit of the track. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that deductions be made at a rate of 2 cents in the dollar for the win portion of the bet and 2 cents in the dollar for the place portion of the bet.
Upon arriving at the barriers EDGED IN BLACK (S Quick) had lost its off-hind plate. Stewards ordered that the near hind plate be removed prior to the horse being loaded into the barriers.
At approximately the 900 metre mark RECORD TIME (J Piper) received pressure from WITH CAUSE (G Evans) who made minor contact and then further resulted in RECORD TIME making contact with the inside runner OVER THE ODDS (L Morrison).
WESTERN BRONZE (C Beets) struck the running rail heavily when rounding the home turn.
EDGED IN BLACK (S Quick) shifted outwards abruptly at the 100 metre mark.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H'CAP – ANT 1200 METRES (15 STARTERS)
The starting time of this event was delayed marginally due to urgent repairs being carried out to the barriers.
As the start was effected THE QUEENS COMING (S QUICK) reared and lost ground.
When rounding the home turn BEAR MICK (D Evans) shifted inwards momentarily and hampered the running of MAHRATHE (J Stephens).

RACE 5: 3YO CLASS 2 H'CAP – ABT 1200 METRES (14 STARTERS)
SUN OF CLANG (D Evans) ran off the track at approximately the 650 metre mark.
Upon straightening MISS RUTHERFORD (A Gillett) layed outwards and had to be restrained from the heels of WYNYA (C Beets).

RACE 6: CLASS 3 H’CAP – ABT 1300 METRES (16 STARTERS)
TIN PAN ALLEY (G Booth) over raced from the start until approximately 800 metre mark and had to be restrained off the front runners, then commenced to hang out under pressure from the 100 metre mark to the finish post.

RACE 7: MAIDEN H'CAP – ABT 1400 METRES (15 STARTERS)
HAGRID (C Beets) raced ungenerously at approximately the 1000 metre mark.
It was reported by trainer Kerrod Smyth that the saddle of PEPPERINA LANE had slipped forward during the event.

RACE 8: OPEN H'CAP – ABT 1500 METRES (14 STARTERS)
RAPID CITY (S Watkin) was trapped wide throughout the entire event.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

BOOKMAKERS: TWO (2) Bookmakers fielded at the event.
