ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT
SATURDAY 14TH JUNE, 2003.
STEWARDS PANEL: P. Cooper (Chairman), R Doyle, G Meek, D Macklyn, N Vagg & N Fox.
WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short Course True. Long Course out 4 metres from 800m to 400m. Cutaway at 400 metres.
GENERAL
On Thursday the 12th June 2003 Stewards completed the inquiry into the running and handling of ALL ABOUT CLASS on the 29th of May 2003. Stewards gave Jockey Gary Evans the benefit of a very grave doubt.
Stewards ordered that pre-race blood samples be taken from SWEET CITY SIOUX and RIVA REBEL.
RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300 METRES (15 STARTERS)
FERNS (M. Bennett) was declared a late scratching at 12.43pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice after FERNS completed to full circuits of the course.
Stewards ordered betting deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets and all monies invested on FERNS to be refunded.
Stewards barred PLEASE WAIT to an official barrier trial after it proved difficult load.
RACE 2: QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100 METRES (12 STARTERS)
Stewards permitted Jockey C. Beets to be the replacement rider of
EMGEE EM as Jockey
S. Campton was stood down acting on advice from the Ambulance Official on duty.
Stewards barred BLUE JAM to an official barrier trial after it was very slow out of the barriers.
As the start was effected BERNYARD (M. Elliott) jumped out abruptly.
SMEE (G. Booth) raced ungenerously in the early to middle stages.
RUN BOO BOO (A. Parramore) raced ungenerously from the 850mtr mark until the 400mtr mark.
RACE 3: F & M CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1100 METRES (13 STARTERS)
As the start was effected WAITER (M. Rice) jumped inwards and bumped ANGEL ANNIE (P. Saunders). ARCARENDI (M. Unwin) jumped outwards.
RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP – 1000 METRES (8 STARTERS)
On jumping YALLAH’S POLONAISE (M. Unwin) and DARING MISS (M. Rice) came together.
RACE 5: CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1800 METRES (15 STARTERS)
Leaving the straight the first time GLACIES (S. Thurlow) and LA HULA BELLE (S. Watkin) had to check off of the heels of BOURBONNAIS (M. Unwin) as a result of the pace slowing. Approaching the 1200mtr mark EEM CEE GEE (J. Taylor) received a heavy bump from RAW TORQUE (M. Elliott) who veered in sharply. Stewards severely admonished Jockey M. Elliott for letting his mount to veer in so sharply.
RACE 6: ROCKHAMPTON CUP OPEN H'CAP – 2000 METRES (16 STARTERS)
Jockey Sean Campton was pass fit to ride by the on duty Club Ambulance Officer.
Approaching the 1700mtr mark MOTIVATE (D. Tanti) had to check as a result of HIRSCHBERG (G. Evans) moving in. Stewards acknowledged that Jockey Gary Evans was making every effort to keep his mount out.
Leaving the straight the first time HOT SCORPION (S. Campton) suffered interference as a result of ASTANA (N. Evans) moving out and LAURINEL IMPULSE (M. Unwin) shifting in.
SEA ROYAL was pulled up in the race after suffering a bleeding attack. It was later confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon that SEA ROYAL bled from both nostrils.
SEA ROYAL was subsequently given a lifetime ban from racing.
RACE 7: CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200 METRES (8 STARTERS)
As the start was effected WESTERN ROGUE (C. Beets) was slow into stride.
Approaching the 1000mtr mark POOCHA was tightened for racing room.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
