Race 1: XXX Gold Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st Marauding Hill 2nd Toy Jet 3rd The Skater 4th- Rock D'Or

SAVVY CHOICE (D. Philpot) was a late scratching at 11.55 a.m. on veterinary advice. MISS VALHALLA (M. Usher) was also a late withdrawal at 12.15 p.m. on veterinary advice.

The start of this race was delayed when MARAUDING HILL (D. Tanti) became fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Trainer J. Poots was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.

There was a further delay to the start when ROCK D'OR became cast and was also removed from the barriers for the veterinary surgeon to examine and was also cleared to race. Trainer J. Pointon was also advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its barrier manners.

STANSAVANNA (C. Whiteley) was slow to begin.

MY LIONESS (C. Priest) was tightened for room at the start between OXFORD TOWN (K. Cross) and NINETYSIX KRUG (S. Watkin), both of which shifted ground.

Apprentice K. Cross was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR. 137(a) in that she rode in a careless manner by permitting OXFORD TOWN to shift in approaching the 1000m when not sufficiently clear of MARAUDING HILL, which resulted in MARAUDING HILL being taken in across the rightful running of STANSAVANNA which as a result had to be checked. Apprentice Cross had her licence to ride in races suspended for three meetings, which will commence at midnight on Thursday, 22 September 2011, being the expiration of a suspension incurred at the Rockhampton meeting on 8 September 2011, and to expire at midnight on Tuesday, 27 September 2011.

TOY JET (A. Taylor), SAVE THE PLANET (C. Pye) and NINETYSIX KRUG raced wide throughout.

After passing the winning post MARAUDING HILL shifted out abruptly which resulted in rider D. Tanti being dislodged. MY LIONESS shifted out abruptly to avoid the fallen rider D. Tanti and as a result its rider C. Priest was also dislodged. Both riders were examined by the medical officers and cleared to fulfil their remaining engagements.

Race 2: Frenchville Sports Club QTIS 3YO Maiden H'cap – 1050m
1st Western Sequential 2nd Sheza Falvelon 3rd Into The Deep 4th- Secret Scene

KARZING (S. Sheargold) was slow to begin.

MINARDI MAGIC (K. Cross) and RUN WILLY RUN (D. Tanti) jumped away awkwardly.

HOT SHOT SISTER (A. Taylor) shifted out at the start and hampered WESTERN SEQUENTIAL (B. Richardson), which was taken out on to INTO THE DEEP (A. Pattillo), which after blundering at the start was further inconvenienced and lost ground as a result.

CAMPIONESSA (C. Whiteley) commenced to hang out after passing the 800m and proved difficult to ride. This resulted in MINARDI MAGIC, approaching the 600m, being taken out across the heels of TRIPLE CENTURY (J. Stephens) and having to be checked. HOT SHOT SISTER, which was racing to the outside of MINARDI MAGIC, shifted out as a result of this, taking WESTERN SEQUENTIAL wider on the track. CAMPIONESSA continued to prove difficult to ride and a short distance later shifted in resulting in SECRET SCENE (C. Pye) and SHEZA FALVELON (A. Coome) being tightened for room. Trainer B. Gray was advised that because of its racing manners CAMPIONESSA must compete in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

RUN WILLY RUN hung in when placed under pressure in the early stage of the straight.

Leaving the 1000m SECRET SCENE had to be checked when tightened for room by MINARDI MAGIC which, when racing greenly, shifted in and away from TRIPLE CENTURY.

HOT SHOT SISTER, TRIPLE CENTURY and WESTERN SEQUENTIAL raced wide throughout.

INTO THE DEEP hung in when placed under pressure between the 400m and after passing the 100m and over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running and as a result jockey A. Pattillo was unable to ride the horse out in his normal manner.

WESTERN SEQUENTIAL shifted in when placed under pressure and near the 100m bumped SECRET SCENE.

Apprentice K. Cross reported that after meeting with interference near the 600m MINARDI MAGIC did not respond to her riding and took no further competitive part in the race.

Race 3: St Peter's Caulfield Cup Day October 15, 2011 Class 1 H'cap – 1050m
1st Feuer Drache 2nd John's Special 3rd Czarwho 4th- Puro Sangue

MONASHEE EXPRESS (C. Whiteley) and PURO SANGUE (J. Kropp) were slow to begin.

PRINCESS VELLA (K. Cross) was hampered at the start when tightened for room between FOUAREE (A. Butler) and JOHN'S SPECIAL (A. Coome), both of which shifted ground.

WINCHMORE LASS (J. Stephens) and PRINCESS VELLA raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 400m TRY ANOTHER DORE (A. Taylor) was inconvenienced when FEUER DRACHE (A. Pattillo) shifted out to obtain clear running. A. Pattillo was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Near the 200m YAN YAN ASTA (C. Pye) had to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of PRINCESS VELLA when that runner commenced to weaken.

Race 4: Calibre Earthmoving & Environmental Class 6 Plate – 1050m
1st Fanciful 2nd Left Behind 3rd Long Road To Glory 4th- Scent Of Gold

LONG ROAD TO GLORY (C. Pye) was slow to begin.

FANCIFUL (A. Pattillo) and BILLY THE MOUNTAIN (D. Philpot) bumped at the start.

BLACK ANGUS (C. Whiteley) raced wide throughout.

FANCIFUL had difficulty securing clear running in the straight until approaching the 200m.

Race 5: XXXX Summer Bright Class 2 H'cap – 1300m
1st Fields Of Plenty 2nd Trepan 3rd Shipping Steel 4th- Nederburg/Kickdahabit

DAMOLO (A. Taylor) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer D. Gardiner advised that it was his intention to send the mare for an immediate spell and undertook to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to it racing again.

DONOSTIA (D. Philpot) shifted out at the start resulting in KICKDAHABIT (K. Cross) and GREAT GRETZKY (S. Watkin) being hampered and taken out on to LUCASAM (C. Whiteley) which after being a little slow to begin was also inconvenienced.

JET SURGE (A. Coome) and GREAT GRETZKY raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from A. Coome regarding the disappointing performance of JET SURGE. A. Coome explained that the gelding travelled comfortably until placed under pressure near the 450m and was disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding from that point. He added that JET SURGE may be better suited on rain-affected tracks. A post-race veterinary examination of JET SURGE revealed no significant findings.

Race 6: Knight Frank Melbourne Cup Day November 1, 2011 Class 4 H'cap – 1200m
1st Chubby 2nd Turf Music 3rd Emma's Sonnet 4th- Tedika

NOBLE LUSTRE (J. Kropp) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. After considering the horse's unblemished record, stewards informed trainer J. Brown that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

MASTER GREIG (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.

NOBLE LUSTRE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stage of the home straight and near the 400m was disappointed for a run between CHUBBY (S. Sheargold) and SHELDON (C. Whiteley).

CHUBBY shifted in under pressure near the 200m, inconveniencing ANGEL FORCE (A. Pattillo). S. Sheargold (CHUBBY) was advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts when shifting ground under pressure in the future.

Rider A. Coome was provided with the opportunity of explaining the performance of CAPTAIN DARLING. A. Coome stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in its customary forward position and when placed under pressure approaching the 400m failed to respond to his riding. Trainer R. Walsh was unable to explain today's performance other than that the gelding may not have been suited to today's firm surface. A post-race veterinary examination of CAPTAIN DARLING revealed no obvious abnormalities. Mr Walsh undertook to report to stewards anything that may come to light in coming days which may have had an effect on the horse's performance.
