Supplementary Report

As R. McMahon, T. Harrison (Race 1) and J. Bowditch (Race 2)) were all delayed in arriving on course and L. Dillon (Race 3) unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties , riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Pine Beach Hotel Maiden Handicap- 1600 metres
1st Shimazu 2nd Quirt 3rd Eyes Magic 4th- Teretoa

The start was delayed when TURF TSAR (C. Pye) was fractious in the barriers. TURF TSAR was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

SHIMAZU (A. Allen) jumped inwards at the start and bumped QUIRT (T. Bannon).

EYES MAGIC (C. McIver) over raced until near the 1100m, at which stage it assumed the lead.

Near the 300m, SHIMAZU (A. Allen) and TERETOA (A. Taylor) bumped.

Passing the 150m, SHIMZU shifted in slightly and made contact with EYES MAGIC.


Race 2: McDonalds Family Restaurants QTIS 2YO Handicap- 1050 metres
1st Rocky King 2nd Gallinari 3rd Rishona 4th- Second Law

GALLINARI (R. McMahon) and RISHONA (S. McGovern) made contact on jumping away.

SECOND LAW (A. Allen) and COAL COMMAND (J. Innes) came together at the start.

TUCKER TIME (J. Stanley) and MARCHALDEE (A. Taylor) also bumped at the start.

RADIANT JOY (C. Pye) had to be steadied when tightened between HOLD THAT THOUGHT (A. Pattillo), and TENT HUMOUR (T. Bannon), both of which shifted ground slightly after the start.

SECOND LAW and IDAHLIA (P. Schmidt) shifted ground near the 100m.

ROOM EIGHT (J. Byrne) hung out in the middle stages of the race.

TUCKER TIME, MARCHALDEE, ROOM EIGHT and IDAHLIA raced wide for the majority of the event.

Following this event, C. McIver was stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 3: Peter Boodle Quality Meats Ken Russell Memorial Class 3 Handicap- 1400 metres
1st Vancouver Gold 2nd Iking 3rd Damn Good Idea 4th- Broadcast

DAMN GOOD IDEA (R. McMahon) jumped inwards at the start and hampered OUR MAIKAI (J. Innes), which lost some ground.

CONSTANT CRAVING (A. Allen) was slow to begin.

LUCASAM (N. Patchett) raced wide for the majority of the event.

IKING (H. Bowman) lost its near fore plate in running.

Race 4: Judy Doyle Memorial Maiden Plate- 1200 metres
1st Choice Rock 2nd Ferocious Diva 3rd Ricordo 4th- Robert’s Gift

The start was delayed when SASCHA’S SPIRIT (D. Tanti) had to be re-saddled.

Prior to the start being effected, GOD’S BEST (S. McGovern) was fractious in the barriers and when the start was effected was slow to begin.

On jumping away, TRUSTY GREY (D. Missen) knuckled over badly and caused its rider to become unbalanced and dislodged. Jockey D. Missen sustained no apparent injury in this incident. .

Near the 550m, EMMZ AMELIA (A. Hearn) shifted out and made contact with GOD’S BEST on two occasions, taking GOD’S BEST wider on the track.

Passing the 400m, BOTH EARS (C. Pye) shifted out and hampered FEROCIOUS DIVA (J. Byrne).

SASCHA’S SPIRIT and COPY THIS (A. Butler) raced wide throughout.

Connections reported that GOD’S BEST had been galloped on on its off side hind leg.

GOD’S BEST lost its near fore plate in running.

Following this race, C. Pye was stood down from her remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 5: Fine Wine Partners Class 1 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Fryberg 2nd Toy With Me 3rd Angie’s Heart 4th- Viva Forte

At the start, NOBLE ADVICE was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.

After being loaded, NAIL ‘EM reared and became cast. NAIL ‘EM was subsequently removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 2.49 pm on veterinary advice.

Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on NAIL ‘EM were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions to apply.

5 cent in the dollar for the win of Fryberg
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner Fryberg
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place Toy With Me
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd plate Angie’s Heart

ANGIE’S HEART (J. Stanley) jumped outwards at the start and made heavy contact with STANSAVANNA (J. Kropp).

VIVA FORTE (A. Coome) was slow to begin.

PERMISSION GRANTED (H. Bowman) over raced in the early stages.

Near the 900m, THE CONDUCTOR (A. Taylor) was inclined to lay in and caused VIVA FORTE to be steadied.

BERNERS LEE (J. Byrne) laid out in the middle stages and raced wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of LOCIMAGOOLI (T. Harrison) revealed the gelding appeared to be struck in the off-side eye by a clod, and veterinary treatment was administered.


Race 6: Hansen’s Catering Class 5 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Hodgie And Mo 2nd Christmas Island 3rd Trickin 4th- Saintly Lady

TRICKIN (P. Schmidt) was a little slow to begin.

Near the 900m, DIAMOND ACE (A. Taylor) had to be steadied and shifted in, at which time CANE CHAMPAGNE (S. Pawsey) was inclined to over race, and when racing in restricted room inside of DIAMOND ACE has steadied from that horse’s heels, and caused ANGEL PLACE (D. Tanti), which was also over racing, to be steadied. Apprentice A. Taylor, rider of DIAMOND ACE, was advised to ensure she is sufficiently clear and afford runners to her inside sufficient racing room.

A. Allen, rider of HODGIE AND MO, dropped his whip 50 metres from the finish.

SAINTLY LADY (D. Simmons) raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 7: XXXX Gold Rockhampton Newmarket Open Handicap- 1300 metres
1st Emmertt 2nd Lightfeet Lady 3rd Kilwinning Option 4th- How Much My Love

COCKTAIL SUPREME (T. O'Hara) was slow to begin.

Near the 1000m, KILWINNING OPTION (R. McMahon) lay in, and PURETTAN (J. Bowditch) made contact with its hind quarters, and caused KILWINNING OPTION to shift in again, which resulted in PURETTAN being eased.

Passing the 200m, PURETTAN improved to the outside of CRAIGLEA CONVICT (A. Pattillo) and shifted in slightly, resulting CRAIGLEA CONVICT having to be eased.

Near the 150m, WAR ENDS (D. Missen) and FANGLES (L. Rolls) bumped.

In the latter stages of the straight, KING OF THE KONGO (A. Allen) broke down. A post race veterinary examination of KING OF THE KONGO revealed a fractured near fore fetlock and sesamoid. KING OF THE KONGO was euthanized on humane grounds.

TEA TATTLE (P. Schmidt), WHAT HAPPENEDHENRY (L. Cassidy) raced wide throughout.


Race 8: PFD Fodd Services Class 6 Handicap- 1400 metres
1st Savage River 2nd Speedskater 3rd Our Mr Cashman 4th- Thunder Lane

SPEEDSKATER (K. Matheson) over raced in the early stages.

HUSSANA (A. Coome) raced wide throughout.
