1st STARFIRE LADY 2nd ALOTTA MOJO 3rd MURRAMARANG 4th - ONE FOR ME
App. A. Taylor was a late notification of rider for MISS NINETY NINE.
During its preliminary JESTER'S CHOICE dislodged its rider, App. A. Kitson. The filly was quickly recaptured and after arriving behind the barriers was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
The start was delayed when ONE FOR ME (App. C. Pye) proved difficult to load and then was fractious after being placed in the barriers. Trainer L. Rowe was advised that the filly must obtain 2 barrier certificates, one of which must be in an official trial, before being permitted to race again.
At the start MISS NINETY NINE (App. A. Taylor) shifted in onto ALOTTA MOJO (D. Simmons), which was taken in onto SOFTLEA (N. Patchett), which in turn was taken in onto the hindquarters of NARIPSA (L. Dillon). In this incident, SOFTLEA lost ground.

When questioned as to the performance of LEGAL DANCER, App. K. Gates explained that the gelding had been inclined to pull hard and refused to settle, which was contrary to its normal racing manners, and in her opinion this affected the filly's ability to finish off the race.
