At the 900 metres ROYAL JESS (J. Stephens) was steadied when AZAHARA (App B. Appo) rolled in.
CHASIN' THE WIND and PEZULA (D. Simmons) raced wide throughout.

1st SURF FIRE 2nd ELAY PRINCESS 3rd BARACCA 4th - IRIANA WILL
Prior to the declaration of correct weight App. B Appo viewed the patrol films in the presence of trainer's representative, N. Mannion, with a view to lodging an objection against SURF FIRE being declared first. After viewing the films App. Appo elected not to lodge a protest and stewards declared correct weight on the judge's numbers.
A pre-race veterinary examination of BARACCA (T. O'Hara), which was resuming from a significant spell, did not reveal any abnormalities and the gelding was cleared to take its place in the field.
At the start AUTOVON (D. Evans), which began awkwardly, made contact with SURF FIRE (App. A. Kitson), which jumped out.
VICORAY (C. Pye) began awkwardly, made contact with GO SAI (D. Simmons) which lost ground.
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred shortly after the start. It was established that shortly after the start VICORAY shifted in and away from GO SAI, taking ELAY PRINCESS (App. B. Appo) in onto BARACCA, which had to be steadied and caused AUTOVON to ease. Jockey Pye was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances she would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent her mounts from shifting ground. In determining this matter, stewards were mindful of the racing manners of VICORAY.
Near the 700 metres MOISTEN (B. El-Issa) hung out slightly, taking SURF FIRE out and resulting in ELAY PRINCESS being tightened for room between SURF FIRE and ROYAL FUSILIER and having to steady.
Near the 200 metres ROMONA MISS rolled out and bumped BAGINIQUE.
Inside the 100 metres ROMONA MISS (App. L. Tilley) shifted in and at the same time MOISTEN (B. El-Issa) shifted in and away from ROMONA MISS, forcing NO RISQUE (J. Stephens) to be taken inwards and VICORAY to be tightened for room and having to check. App. Tilley was advised to exercise more care.
BAGINIQUE (L. Dillon), ROYAL FUSILIER (App. A. Taylor) and GO SAI raced wide throughout.
Following the running of this race, the track rating was upgraded to a Good (3).

RED STORY (D. Evans) began awkwardly and made contact with DIAMONDCOWBOY (App. B. Appo).
At the start MULE FORTY SIX (J. Stanley) shifted out and made contact with TITANIUM ROCK (L. Dillon).
On jumping, POPNAE (C. Pye) shifted out and made contact with KLITSCHKO.
Stewards questioned App. B. Appo as to why DIAMONDCOWBOY shifted wider in the middle stages of the event. App. Appo explained that from near the 800 metres his mount was inclined to lay out and consequently shifted out. At that time SLIM HENRY (B. El-Issa) improved to his inside. App. Appo added that in the straight the gelding was inclined to hang in, obliging him to change his whip over. App. Appo said further that in the latter stages DIAMONDCOWBOY had been able to become balanced and finished the race off fairly.
Near the 300 metres CHINRUB (A. Coome) lay in and had to be steadied away from the heels of KLITSCHKO.
A post-race veterinary examination of MULE FORTY SIX revealed the gelding to be displaying a slow recovery rate, but no other abnormalities. Connections advised stewards that they intend to retire the horse from racing.

PYGMY HUNTER (S. Evans) over-raced in the middle stages.
SPEEDSKATER (App. A Kitson) and raced wide throughout.
Near the 200 metres THE SHOOTER (J. Stanley) laid in, resulting in BONNY THE VIPER (C. Pye) having to be eased.
Stewards questioned Jockey A. Coome regarding the performance of STAY THE NIGHT and the tactics he adopted on the gelding. Jockey Coome stated that he was instructed to obtain a midfield position with cover, bearing in mind the drop in distance to 1200 metres from 1400 metres at its most recent starts. Jockey Coome stated to comply with those instructions, he did not ride the horse along in the early stages, as he would have obliged to race wide, however conceded he was placed further back than expected. Jockey Coome added that STAY THE NIGHT travelled well throughout the event but responded only fairly to his riding when placed under pressure and compounded on its run near the 200 metres. Trainer A Jenkinson advised stewards that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.
When SHOW ME AN ACE (D. Hayse) returned to the enclosure it was noted that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer D. Gardiner was advised that, as this was the first time the gelding had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward.
Race 7: Kennas Chartered Accountants Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st BLACK MONTY 2nd DROPPER CRYSTAL 3rd CASINO BENJO 4th - BROCHETTE

EMOTIONALLY YOURS was slow to begin.
DANE FIRE (J. Stephens) dipped on jumping, became unbalanced and shifted in onto DROPPER CRYSTAL (B. El-Issa), which was taken in onto FOMALSTAR (A. Coome).
App. L. Tilley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A. R. 137(a) in that leaving the 400 metres he permitted SHOW US THE WAY to shift in when insufficiently clear of BLACK MONTY (D. Hayse), which was taken in onto DANE FIRE (J. Stephens) which caused FOMALSTAR to shift in, be steadied and altered course. App. Tilley licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covering 3 Central Queensland meetings, to commence at midnight on 13th October 2013, up to and including midnight on 26th October 2013.
Over the concluding stages, MAGIC WALTZ (App S Egan) was awkwardly placed on the heels of COUNT ON A ROCKET (T. O’Hara) and unable to be ridden out to the line.

Leaving the 900 metres HAYYLER'S DRAGON (S. Egan) raced tight to the inside of SNIP 'N' AWAY and when restrained commenced to hang out, shifted out across the heels of SNIP 'N' AWAY and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Trainer M. Barnham will be advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Near the 300 metres LANDSDOWNE ROAD attempted to take a run to the inside of FLYING INDY (App. L. Tilley), became awkwardly placed on the heels of STORMWOOD, laid in, became unbalanced and had to be steadied.
Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey J. Stanley for the performance of PERMISSION GRANTED. Jockey Stanley stated that the gelding was disappointing and felt flat when placed under pressure near the 400 metres. Jockey Stanley added that PERMISSION GRANTED failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. Stewards will seek a follow-up report from trainer J. Lewis.
