Track work rider E. Buonanova was fined $100 for smoking whilst mounted on a horse at trackwork at Rockhampton on 11th January 2014 (LR 51)

Race 1: Boral Plasterboard QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st PRETTY KITTY 2nd WICKED LOVER 3rd OUR NEDDY BOY 4th - CRAIGLEA BROOKE

The start was delayed when OUR NEDDY BOY (T. O'Hara) proved difficult to load into the barriers.

HAYYLER'S CASINO (App. A. Allen), which had been fractious in the barriers, shifted out at the start.

COURT LANE (D. Evans), OUR NEDDY BOY and HOT PLATE (S. McGovern) were slow to begin.

On a number of occasions leaving the 600 metres HAYYLER'S CASINO rolled in and shifted ground whilst racing greenly and near the 400 metres COURT LANE, which was reluctant to hold its position, was taken inwards. A warning will be placed on the racing manners of HAYYLER’S CASINO.

Over the final 150 metres WICKED LOVER (App. B. Appo) shifted out under pressure.

OUR NEDDY BOY and AYBESEE (J. P. Stanley) raced wide throughout.

Race 2: SMR Advertising Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
1st BORN TO SURVIVE 2nd COOLOWIE 3rd KING PEM 4th - SORSTROEM

On arrival behind the barriers the tail chain on OH GOLLY (App. B. Appo) was re-fitted and the bridle re-adjusted prior to loading.

ROSIE'S BON BON (M. Usher) was slow into stride.

SHAKY DUKE (T. O'Hara) and ROMA MAXINE (App. A. Allen) were slow to begin and then brushed on jumping.

In the early stages ROMA MAXINE raced wide.

SHAKY DUKE commenced to lay in from near the 700 metres, and continued to do so until the early part of the home straight.

Over the concluding stages COOLOWIE (A. Coome) shifted in under pressure and NORSTROEM (App J Orman) had to be eased.

SHAKY DUKE and THE ALAMO (C Pye) raced wide throughout.

Race 3: Jet Dry Cleaners BM 65 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st RADIANT JOY 2nd NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC 3rd ZEROCITY 4th - KING RAY

NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC (L. Dillon) was slow to begin.

SMART STUFF (M. Usher) began awkwardly and was hampered slightly when it made contact with RADIANT JOY (App. A. Allen).

SMART STUFF raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. A. Allen and Trainer L Rowe as to the reason RADIANT JOY led in today's event. App. Allen said that he had not been given any specific instructions. App. Allen stated that due to the distinct lack of pace in the event the mare was able to find the lead of its own accord and without being pressured. Trainer L Rowe confirmed that he had not issued any specific instructions to either rider of horses trained by him.

Race 4: B&J Car Sales 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st TUNING 2nd MYSTERY ESCORT 3rd IRONOUTLAW 4th - LIGHTNING ARTIST

The start was delayed to allow for the broadcasting of an interstate trotting event.

Upon arrival at the barriers BIG STAN (App. J. Orman) required the attention of the farrier to its off hind plate.

MANILA ACADEMY (T. O'Hara), which had been standing awkwardly in the barriers, was slow to begin.

For a short distance near the 900 metres TUNING (C Pye) laid out.

Leaving the 900 metres BIG STAN rolled in and bumped SIR PRANG (App. B. Appo). When corrected BIG STAN made contact with BORN TO RUN EASY (App. S. Fawke) which shifted wider on the track.

BIG STAN raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Goody’s Earthmoving BM 70 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st LUCKY US 2nd CASINO BENJO 3rd EQUABLE 4th - BLACKJACK DAVEY

BLACKJACK DAVEY (A. Coome), which was a little slow to begin, was hampered when tightened for room between DAMN GOOD IDEA (B. Stewart) and EL SUPREMO (D. Evans).

GUILIETTA (T. O'Hara) was slow to begin.

From near the 500 metres BLACKJACK DAVEY was held up when attempting a run to the outside of EL SUPREMO and made contact with CASINO BENJO (App. B. Appo) on a number of occasions and near the 300 metres was shifted in to obtain clear running.

CHEATIN' CHARLIE (App. A. Kitson) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. A. Allen regarding his riding and tactics on EQUABLE. App. Allen stated that due to the perceived lack of pace and having in mind the wide barrier draw, he was instructed to be positive and obtain a forward position if possible. However, when runners to his inside held their ground and he was going to be caught quite wide and therefore elected to go forward and obtain the lead. App. Allen also stated that in his opinion the gelding performed better when ridden off the pace. The explanations were noted.

Race 6: Ray White Rockhampton City Class 3 Plate - 1050 metres
1st BAM'S BOY 2nd WICKENBY 3rd ZAYNA 4th - WOODEN EYE JOE

WICKENBY (D. Evans) began awkwardly and was slow into stride.

BAM'S BOY (App. L. Tilley) raced wide until near the 700 metres.

Approaching the winning post KING KARENA (S. Egan) shifted out under pressure and caused KILLER WASP (M. Usher) to be tightened onto WOODEN EYE JOE (App. J. Orman). Jockey Egan was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

MYSTERIOUS MAN (L. Dillon) raced wide throughout. On returning to scale it was noted that MYSTERIOUS MAN had blood in its mouth. Trainer G. Bell advised stewards that the gelding will now be spelled.

Race 7: Racing Again at Callaghan Park Thursday January 30 Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st CLEVEDON COURT 2nd HEART OF TEXAS 3rd GRIZZLE 4th - COURT CLOWN

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer M. Barnham for the late declaration of App. L. Tilley as the rider of REDOUTE'S POWER.

During its preliminary CAILIN MOR (App. S. Fawke) was reluctant to proceed to the start, became fractious and dislodged its rider and its bridle. After being recaptured behind the barriers, the mare's gear was re-fitted and CAILIN MOR was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

The start was further delayed when the tongue tie on COURT CROWN had to be replaced.

REDOUTE'S POWER (App. L. Tilley) was a late scratching, at 5.12 p.m., when gear attached to the saddle was broken and unable to be replaced. Stewards ordered that all bets made on REDOUTE'S POWER be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

3¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner CLEVEDON COURT
4¢ in the dollar for the place, for the winner, CLEVEDON COURT
4¢ in the dollar for the place for second, HEART OF TEXAS
4¢ in the dollar for the place for third, GRIZZLE

When the start was effected CAILIN MOR (App. S. Fawke) stood flat-footed and after beginning failed to take any competitive part in the event. The stable representative for trainer D. Symons was advised that the mare will be required to perform satisfactorily in two barrier jump-outs in order to parade to the barrier with the rider mounted and also to obtain a further barrier certificate.

GRIZZLE (B. Stewart) and DR MORGUN (T. O'Hara) were slow to begin.

IRIANA WIL (App. A. Allen) began awkwardly.

Near the 400 metres ADALFE (App. J. Orman) shifted out slightly, obliging DR MORGUN to alter course.

Jockey L Dillon reported that in the early stages of the straight HEART OF TEXAS had been reluctant to advance into an available run between GRIZZLE and COURT CLOWN (App. A. Kitson) when placed under pressure and inside the 400 metres GRIZZLE shifted out resulting in HEART OF TEXAS being hampered. He further stated that aAt this time, CLEVEDON COURT (D. Evans) had improved to the inside of HEART OF TEXAS, and he was required to shifted out to obtain a run to the outside of COURT CLOWN, and then found the line well.

DR MORGUN and BENERAZI (S. Evans) raced wide throughout.
