KING COBIA - Approaching the 900 metres hung in, despite the efforts of its rider, and tightened STRAIGHT GOLD in onto ZIZA SPIRIT.

ONEHUNDREDCLICKS - Near the 150 metres shifted out and bumped KING COBIA.

When questioned regarding the performance of STRAIGHT GOLD, Jockey A. Coome said that the gelding was disappointing. He stated that after being hampered near the 900 metres the horse had travelled well early, however once placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and may not have appreciated the firm track surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had swelling and was lame in the near hind leg. Trainer G. Bell said that it was now her intention to spell the gelding. Nevertheless, she was advised that she must provide a veterinary clearance before the horse will be permitted to race again.

IN OUR SIGHTS (J Taylor) which was following OTTIS, was eased as a result.

JUST ASKING - Near the 500 metres made contact with the hindquarters of WALLEN (Jockey M. Barnham), which was turned inwards and resulted in JUST ASKING being further tightened for room when LEROY DOUGHBOSS (App. N. Summers) shifted out. Apprentice Summers was advised to exercise more care.

Apprentice Darren Evans pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137 (a) in that near the 900 metres he allowed THE CLANG AFFAIR to shift in, taking FINAL HOPE (App. Z.White) in, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running, and resulting in DIPPED IN GOLD to be tightened for room. Apprentice Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 3rd December 2016 up to and including 14th December 2016 (11 days)

Near the 150 metres THE CLANG AFFAIR (App. D. Evans) hung in and TAKINGS made contact with its hindquarters which turned it inwards. TAKINGS (Jockey A. Coome) was then further tightened for room between KIPLING (Jockey B. Stewart) and THE CLANG AFFAIR.

KIPLING  - Stewards questioned Jockey B. Stewart in relation to his mount being ridden back in the field today. Jockey Stewart explained that he was instructed to ride patiently, and rather than race wide, he elected to obtain a position at the rear of the field from its wide barrier. He added that he was mindful of his instructions not to expose the horse too early in the straight. The explanation was noted.

DIPPED IN GOLD -  Apprentice C Bayliss was reprimanded for using his whip on his mount when it was out of contention.

Apprentice L. Tilley was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 300 metres he permitted ROOI ROE to shift out when insufficiently clear of REGGIE ROCKET (App. Q. Krogh), which resulted in that horse being taken outwards and FINAL HOPE (App. Z. White) being obliged to hold its course.
