ONEHUNDREDCLICKS - Near the 150 metres shifted out and bumped KING COBIA.
When questioned regarding the performance of STRAIGHT GOLD, Jockey A. Coome said that the gelding was disappointing. He stated that after being hampered near the 900 metres the horse had travelled well early, however once placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and may not have appreciated the firm track surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had swelling and was lame in the near hind leg. Trainer G. Bell said that it was now her intention to spell the gelding. Nevertheless, she was advised that she must provide a veterinary clearance before the horse will be permitted to race again.

Near the 150 metres THE CLANG AFFAIR (App. D. Evans) hung in and TAKINGS made contact with its hindquarters which turned it inwards. TAKINGS (Jockey A. Coome) was then further tightened for room between KIPLING (Jockey B. Stewart) and THE CLANG AFFAIR.
KIPLING - Stewards questioned Jockey B. Stewart in relation to his mount being ridden back in the field today. Jockey Stewart explained that he was instructed to ride patiently, and rather than race wide, he elected to obtain a position at the rear of the field from its wide barrier. He added that he was mindful of his instructions not to expose the horse too early in the straight. The explanation was noted.
DIPPED IN GOLD - Apprentice C Bayliss was reprimanded for using his whip on his mount when it was out of contention.
Apprentice L. Tilley was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 300 metres he permitted ROOI ROE to shift out when insufficiently clear of REGGIE ROCKET (App. Q. Krogh), which resulted in that horse being taken outwards and FINAL HOPE (App. Z. White) being obliged to hold its course.
