QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB – THURSDAY, 2nd March, 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4)RAIL – 4 METRES ENTIRE COURSE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr L. MatthewsStewards Secretary - B Palmer GENERAL: Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident that occurred at trackwork on Wednesday morning, 1st March 2017 which involved Jockey Dale Evans and trackwork rider G. Hogg. After taking evidence from the parties involved and trainer J. Wigginton, stewards adjourned the matter to a date and time to be fixed. As a result, Jockey Dale Evans was stood down immediately, pending the conclusion of the inquiry. Substitutions were made as per the stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey D Evans was made aware of services which may assist him at this time. Race 1: Harts Family Funerals QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap – 1100 metres LOTA CREEK GOLD - Shifted in abruptly at the start. Trainer reported the gelding to be shin sore and would now be spelled. RED RUNNER - Made contact with another runner at the start. NASTY GAL - Contacted by another runner at the start. Slow into stride. Apprentice Jokic reported that her mount laid in badly in the straight and that she was unable to ride it out over the final stages. FORGOTTEN FEELING - Near the 950m shifted out, commenced to race ungenerously and made contact with RED RUNNER, which also raced ungenerously for a short distance. Laid in over the final 100m. Jockey S. Bogenhuber pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that over the concluding stages she permitted FORGOTTEN FEELING to shift in and that she used insufficient effort to prevent it from doing so, when not sufficiently clear of SAMBA RIO (Jockey S. Sheargold) which was tightened for room and had to be checked after passing the winning post. Jockey Bogenhuber was suspended from riding in races from midnight on 4th March 2017, up to and including 12th March 2017 (8 days). In assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Bogenhuber's plea of guilty and her good record. SAMBA RIO - Near the 600m was steadied from the heels of LOTA CREEK GOLD. NASTY GAL, which was following, had to be steadied. Race 2: New Horizon and Safety Training Class 6 Plate – 1100 metres SHIGZAG - Began a little awkwardly. Near the 800m shifted outwards when over-racing, taking BAM'S PRINCESS wider. FINAL HOPE - and OSSENHAGEN - Over-raced in the early and middle stages. SUSSEX STREET - Leaving the 900m rolled in slightly and caused SHIGZAG to ease. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight, until passing the 200m. Race 3: Charlies Pest Control Open Handicap – 1500 metres When Jockey D. Simmons reported ill, he was replaced by Jockey L. Tilley. Jockey Simmons was advised that he must furnish a medical clearance before being permitted to race again. GYPSY SECRET and LEGAL PROCEDURE - Made contact on jumping. GYPSY SECRET raced 3 wide with cover. Jockey L. Tilley lost his whip near the 300m. Race 4: BFB Scaffolding BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1400m DUDOOMP - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Apprentice Z. White reported that her mount failed to travel in the early stages, however when placed under pressure in the latter stages responded to her riding and finished the race off well. THE CATHOLIC GIRL - Lost her whip near the 200m. Race 5: Central QLD Plasterers Maiden Plate – 1200 metres The start was delayed when a number of horses required the assistance of the barrier staff. REFINED EXCITEMENT - Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. TEST MY FRIENDSHIP - Began awkwardly and lost some ground. ELAZZTIC - Raced wide without cover throughout. NINO GOLD - Raced wide with cover. CALL ME KEV - Jockey J. Taylor dropped his whip inside the 200m. At the 1200m SAME HERE, shifted in and made contact with OUTBACK SURVIVOR (M. Stephens), which shifted in and caused REFINED EXCITEMENT (App. Q. Krogh) to be steadied. SAME HERE shifted out under pressure near the 150m, taking TEST MY FRIENDSHIP outwards. TUXEDO BOY - Jockey B. Stewart was reminded of the rules regarding use of the whip prior to the 100m. AL HAMEES - Jockey A. Coome was fined $300 for returning to scale more than half a kilogram above his declared weight. Race 6: Advanced Exhaust QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap – 1100 metres Jockey B. Grylls replaced Jockey Dale Evans as rider of SIR TRUSTICE.The start was delayed when VIRGIN TERRITORY, SIR TRUSTICE and ARNHEM BEAUTY had to be re-saddled. SIR TRUSTICE and MISTA BUSY - made contact at the start. CAPE HALIFAX - Slow to begin. BOLD SHOT - Raced wide without cover throughout. VIRGIN TERRITORY, OUR INVESTMENT and KING TORIO raced wide with cover throughout. ISIS AMBER - Hung out from the 200m. ARNHEM BEAUTY - A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it had sustained minor lacerations to the off foreleg. Treatment was administered. PARTY PARDEE - Near the 500m improved to the inside of VIRGIN TERRITORY (M. Hellyer) and shifted out slightly, causing VIRGIN TERRITORY to shift out and tighten KING TORIO (A. Coome) onto OUR INVESTMENT, resulting in Jockey Day becoming unbalanced. Jockey J. Taylor was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Race 7: U Drive Hire BenchMark 60 Handicap – 1100 metres HIP SHAKE BANG - Resuming from a significant spell. Underwent pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. DECALI - Jockey L. Tilley replaced Jockey D. Evans. Slow to begin. Jockey L. Tilley was fined $100 under A.R. 145 for returning to scale more than half a kilogram above his declared weight. FRISKY TERROR - Near the 700m shifted in when not fully clear causing STRATEGIC GLORY to become awkward in its stride and be checked. Laid in behind another runner under pressure over the concluding stages. After taking into account all of the circumstances, stewards advised Jockey S. McGovern to exercise more care. ABANDONED LOVE - Slow to begin. COZUMEL - Began awkwardly and shifted outward. Raced wide with cover. ANGEL OF LIBERTY - Bled from both nostrils during running. As this was the first time the horse had bled, trainer C. Thompson was advised that the horse will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gallop over at least 1000m, in the presence of a steward.
