White’s vigour on her mount in the straight.  She stated that it was usual to hold the horse up as it had a short sprint.   Today she was mindful of the weight impost, however when she placed her mount under pressure, it did not respond as expected and she was of the opinion that the weight impost and track conditions may have affected its performance.

Race 8:  2017 Capricornia Yearling Sale Classic 2yo Plate – 1200m
1st- Stylish Criminal   2nd- The Bank Managar    3rd- We’ll Beat It   4th- Rocky Gamble

Prior to correct weight, Trainer T Button and Jockey A. Coome, rider of the 2nd placegetter, THE BANK MANAGER, viewed the patrol film and lodged an objection against STYLISH CRIMINAL being declared the winner. After hearing evidence from the relevant parties, stewards established that near the 300m WE’LL BEAT IT, THE BANK MANAGER and STYLISH CRIMINAL had raced true and near the 150m WE’LL BEAT IT had shifted out under pressure and THE BANK MANAGER had laid  out and away from that horse, making contact with STYLISH CRIMINAL.  From that point, THE BANK MANAGER was able to be ridden along and approaching the winning post shifted out marginally, at which point STYLISH CRIMINAL shifted in marginally.  Taking into account these circumstances, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied the incident required a reversal of the placings and dismissed the objection.

UNDERCOVER GIRL – Slow to begin.

RED RUNNER - Over raced in the middle stages.

DUAL PERSONALITY – Contacted at the start by NATURE’S WAY.  Jockey N. Stewards deemed this a low-range incident and considered Jockey Thomas’ good riding record.

HURRY UP KELVIN- Dipped on jumping away.

STYLISH CRIMINAL – Raced wide without cover.

NATURE’S WAY – Raced wide without cover.  Jockey A. Coome, rider of THE BANK MANAGER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of RED RUNNER, resulting in that horse being dictated out on to SAMBA RIO onto NATURE’S WAY, which was tightened for room and had to be checked.  Jockey Coome was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 11 days to commenced at m/n 1 April up to and including 12 April. Stewards deemed this incident to be mid-range with concession for Jockey Coome’s plea and good riding record.
