PARTY PARDEE – When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, Jockey A. Coome stated that his mount travelled well in the early stages, however failed to run on in the straight and he eased the gelding down over the final 200 metres.  A post race veterinary examination revealed congestion on the lungs from a possible infection, and was observed to be coughing post race.  Trainer A. Suli advised that the horse had been scoped on return to his stables with findings that mucus was present. Stewards advised him that a veterinary certificate would be required for the horse prior to its next race start.

ROOI ROE – Lay in near the 700m and caused CHEEKY RED to be tightened for room and lose ground. Whilst stewards were mindful of the amount of ground the horse has shifted and that Jockey L. Tilley had corrected ROOI ROE after it shifted ground, a reprimand was issued.

MAN OF DESTINY – Placed in restricted room near the 900m.

SAY I WONT – Raced wide with cover. Jockey S. Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of LEGAL PROCEDURE, resulting in that horse being taken inwards and tightening COURT CLOWN , which caused it to be checked and lose ground.  Jockey S. Sheargold’s licence to ride in rides was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight, 16 May and to be up to including 27 May, 2017.

COURT CLOWN – Checked near the 300m. Rider reported that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit, which contributed to it tiring and weakening over the concluding stages.

WORTHY HERO – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

LEGAL PROCEDURE – Stewards inquired into Jockey D. Evans riding of the horse in the straight. After taking evidence from the ride, it was established that near the 600m he had shifted to the inside of CRAIGLEA WANDOO. Further, he had anticipated improving to the inside of that runner behind SPORTING PAGE. However, near the 300m was taken in and suffered interference, and near the 200m was tightened when there was no clear run between runners forward of him and had to shift outwards. Approaching the 100m when on the heels of WORTHY HERO, had to shift back in and was not fully extended from this point until the winning post. After taking in consideration all of these circumstances, stewards noted the explanation.

Race 6: Bentlys Rocky Amateurs Cup Open Handicap 1600m
